@Smurf: Yep I know they are talking about but spoilers etc, but:

cos·met·ic
Adjective: Involving or relating to treatment intended to restore or improve a person's appearance.
Noun: A product applied to the body, to improve its appearance

I'm pretty sure my small body lift improves the appearance of the truck, and it is applied to the body, and should be part of the structural section of the sheet...

Looks like Oz 4wd mod rules ar coming NZ way. Most states in Oz, excepting NSW (at present but soon to change) allow 2" body lift, 2"suspension lift and 33"tyres...MAX. This is without certifcation. To do anything more costs an arm and leg to get certified and must be done by an engineer. You see alot of trucks pulled over with cops or mainroads goin g over them, especially in QLD. Good luck guys.

the "idiot" alot of you are referring to is not an idiot.

he's just like me. a young guy with a truck that wasn't cert'd.. wow, how many people on here drive cars or HAVE driven cars in their life with uncert'd mods? I know I have.

that could have been me rolling my truck and killing my girlfriend.
so come on ae have some respect, I know numerous people who have rolled their trucks while out wheeling.
he was unlucky and it was fatal.

have some respect for him, he killed someone unintenially and has to deal with that for ever.

think about it. could have been many of us. he's no different so don't bad mouth him about it

as for the police, the useless pricks they are.

I'm in chch had a female with no ####### idea pull me over last week in my prado. 150mm lift 37s etc

tried to pink sticker my truck cos my cert plate doesn't say tyre size only rim 15x8, and her believing that can't be right? but it is.

so how do they have the authority to do this? like the cop last year same thing told me I'm not up to WoF standard cos I have no wing mirrors. my truck being older than 2000 is required to have an interior OR rh exterior mirror. did he believe me? NO

i agree with this,

most of us are or have in past driven cars with uncerted mods , and MOST of us do things to a certifiable standard so WE the users feel safe knowing that something isnt gonna fall off or snap while driving ,

im only 19 and have built some pretty dam fast street cars and when i have had them certed ive had numerous fines and VERY large arguments with the local police reguarding my cert , ive gotten out of that modified jap car scene jsut so i can have fun and not get hassled by cops but looks like thatl change soon :(

one incident i had just had the cert plate put on that morning and then later pulled up, the male cop tried telling me that my suspension height settings 285mm front and 265mm back were meant to be my tire sizes so why was i illegally driving around on 195/55 tires on my car?????? he tried telling me he had been to a tutorial on certs the week before??????, once i proved hiom wrong he tried giving me a fine for windscreen banner? :x i let him write the ticket out for that one and then asked him to measure my banner , what do ya know it was legal 100mm across the screen, then once that went in the bin he settled for my number plate being bent back merely 15 degrees from rusty brackets and wind , he wouldnt budge on that? i bent it back in front of him and he said it was a snap shot in time or sum bullshit, :? , so the ramble was just to say that some cops just wanna make it tough for no reason, im sure theres thousands of toyotas previas and people movers imported from japan drivign round on uncerted adjustables or exessively loud exhausts,

ARE THEY GONNA TARGET THEM NEXT?????

its just a pitty how one persons actions can effect such a big community of mostly responsible people who would like to have safe cars for themselves and other road users

ok. Well i am 20 and I think that guy who crashed was an idiot. He was driving an uncertified truck, he broke in to the forestry, he was driving with a passenger who didn't have a seatbelt on, and seeing he crashed and if he was on a gravel road then yes hes an idiot. If you have an illegal vehicle its sensible not to bring attention to yourself. so it would be best not to bloody well break in somewhere, and then drive in an idiotic manner so as to crash. If you are sensible you would drive to within your trucks limits, surely?

I do ahet all this being targeted stuff though, its 'your guilty until you can prove your innocent'. but in saying that I guess its best if you do get a cert and stop complaining. It is the law after all.

Meh, we are all such a minority group.

Storm in a tea cup.

Under 25's in fast cars, drunk drivers and rich cu#ts in Audi's and Bentleys speeding are far more of a priority.

The majority of us with big tyres on our 4x4's bumble along the road quietly, as the big tyres have sapped all our power

Most importantly, if you do get pulled over, the first thing the officer is going to do is an attitude test.

If you are polite and well mannered, co-operate with their requests, then chances are they will treat you with the same respect you have given them :D :D

If you get stickered, just take it on the chin, they aren't mechanic's or inspection officers. Have it out with the LVV guy instead

very true, he was being a bit of a dick breaking in and mucking round, would be a different story if he was on a legal place and rolled and accidentally killed his mrs but she probably wasnt the cleverest either, both in a place where they shouldnt be , not wearing a seatbelt and being a pain in the ass.

NO CERT and face the wrath of sticker and fines but HAVE A CERT and you shouldnt be bothered when cert plate has been checked, just a right pain when you and the certifier knows ur car/truck is legal and the cop still wants to prove you otherwise

when you crash oneday which you will. if your unlucky enough to kill someone does that make you an idiot?

no, that guy that ran from the cops in chch drunk and killed 2 elderly, he is an idiot.
get off this guys back. he didn't mean to do it.

im close to people that know him well so have some respect and have a think how you'd feel if you were him. I bet you've been four wheeling before.

almost rolled your truck? yes
4wd'd without your belt on? yes

so #### up and stop bad mouthing him.

Yea it is a pain being pulled over and stickered etc. but if its legal and they dont get anything on you then its worth the look on their face.

Wonder how they will react to me not having any bumpers on my zuk anymore? Hasn't had the rear for 3 years and the front for over 2. might be ok till I fit the LWB springs and new shocks.

Actually do you need a cert for a locker? mainly a locright? some people say they are illegal on road cars but i dont know. plenty of people have them on.

and yes I have crashed before, I was on my own though. I was driving to fast for the road, took the wrong line and rolled my dads car off the bank om the side of the road. I drive way more sensibly when I have passengers as I would hate to kill or injure anyone else... but in the case of me crashing yes I was an idiot.

Being brought up in a car family, I know to respect the road, and I know the limits of the vehicle I'm driving.

And being brought up around 4wd's, it is a natural reaction for me to put my seatbelt on, no matter what distance, or where we are going.

It's just common sense, really.

And the same goes for my Brother (Lincooln).

So don't just assume these things.

I know how bad the guy will be feeling and he may not be an idiot all the time, but at that particular moment he did an idiotic thing and it went wrong. I feel sorry for the guy.

I didn't mean to cause such upset on this forum. My apologies.

I have more than a 50mm bodylift, and I have yet to get a recheck on the cert as I have failed on certain items, I have been pulled over by the fuzz but they did not even bother to look at my truck which the bodylift sticks out like dogs balls and big 33" tyres.

i dont think it matters if his truck was certed or not he wasnt driving to the conditions obviously which makes him reckless..

its just bad karma that his truck wasnt certed, so that brings the spotlight onto EVERYONE with that type of vehicle, regardless of it being legal or not..

its up to 4x4 owners to ensure that their own vehicle meets all legal requirements at all times..

i believe that all lifted trucks should be certed..
nonone knows if your truck has been lifted safely(correct bolts, changes to any fuel lines/tanks,steering etc)

this mod also changes the COG(centre of gravity)...so yes common sense is needed...
its dissapointing at the cost of compliance though and the fact that a cop with no clue can order your vehicle off the rd without any technical proof or knowledge..

be safe....dont break into forestry blocks

I agree, it's absolute madness that a cop can order your vehicle off the road when they have no clue what they are looking at and yes all mods to suspension and body lifts larger tyres etc should all be certified Maybe if they took a look at the price of a cert then people would be more likely to comply.....
