canterbury trip? 7th/8th may

Post by nickcampbell »

Greetings all, been pretty quiet on these forums lately, wandering if any trips are happening or if anyone is keen to have a gander somewhere this weekend. Either saturday or sunday, any time suites me

Any time is good for me. Starting from where? Last I saw the river was closed off at both Coes and Chamberlains fords.

aww real... coes ford is where i start from... guess we could meet there see how things are, unless someone can confirm if its still closed or not. If it is, can drive somewhere else. Worsleys or another river trip near by. Abit of bush bashing never hurts anyone ;) if need be

I'll head down saturday morning and have a look. If not can always go in at SH1, head to coes then back again.

AFAIK Selwyn District Council have banned 4wds from the reserves at Coes and Chamberlains so you can no longer access the river at these points.

The river itself is still OK but you will need to get in and out somewhere else.

Yeah as you say, there are signs up saying no 4wds in the reserves but there's still the option of going in at SH1 and sticking to the riverbed.

Have just been down at Coes ford to have a look and there are 3 entry points still. One at the ford itself, one half way up and another at the end where they have blocked it all off so access is easy.

10am at the ford sounds good to me! We'll be in silver prado with possibly another 70 series and a navara tagging along. Anybody else keen to come along?
