What a Day

Post by Suza »

Went out for a shoot yesterday with a mate on some friends farm (they have a deer problem)
Started at 6.30am in the pouring rain which is great cause I am a bow hunter and the rain helps get closer then at 7 we came across a herd of fallow. I could see a 12 point rack poking up above the scrub and then this hind sticks her head up and looks right at me from 10m away then before I can get the bow up the wind changed and they bolted, man it was sight watching them go.
So we carried on thinking that the day was done when low and behold 3 Red stages poped up about 300m away so my mate put one of them down and after recovering it to the 4x4 track we had a look around for the other 2 and there they were so now there are 3 animals sitting in the chiller. 1x 10 pointer and 2x nine pointers.
I now just need to sort out the freezer space issue :)

No they were too far away for the bow  . The first shot was 300m and the other 2 at 200-250m. My mat put them dowm with a 7mm.

Where abouts in NZ are you dude?

I've got a chest freezer that could fit one of those beasts in it (for a small fee of a bit of venison) :D
