Re: WEAPON
haha know i need to find out why mine isn't flexing as well.
Interesting to watch, front end's seem to be working the same , but your getting alot more wheel stuff in the rear end. off set maybe?
has yours got overload leafs in the rear? or an anti tramp rod? I cant remember , even after staring under heaps

Re: WEAPON
Hey pete if your still having rubber mount problems theres a new place on greenwood st SAS (Shock absorber services I think) They do urethane bushes etc that are meant to stand up a heap better than the likes of nolathane. Apparently they don't crack etc like the rest. They moved in next to my work and seem good to deal with. Probably wouldn't have anything off the shelf but they said they take dimensions and make stuff to fit if need be.
Was just a thought if your tc is still giving you trouble.

Re: WEAPON
Yep, they have done the trick.
Considering they are engine mounts, surviving as a T.Case mount in a little Zook is not a big ask for them!!!!
Best mount available for the job IMO

Re: WEAPON
The Weapon got dragged out of the shed the other weekend for the first time in 8 months or more.
After unsticking the accelerator cable and putting some air in the tires it was all go
This weekend Mudslut convinced me to bring out to the W.O.R.C champs for a skid.
Was heaps of fun bouncing around, and I even got to play recovery truck on the red flag after 3 buggies went off the truck and stacked up on top of each other down a bank in a gorse bush, and later another red flag after a class 1 buggy barrel rolled off the top of a crest
It was pretty dusty getting roosted by class 1 buggies

The last race took its toll on the front end, my steering wheel went 180degrees out in one direction, then a few laps later seemed to be 180 degrees out on the other direction. Once back at the pits at the end of the race its was obvious something was busted, as the drivers side front wheel had a nice negative camber on it as well as being tucked in towards the fire wall a bit. Sure made it a tight fit onto the trailer
Back in the shed the damaged looked worse

Possibly not the housing, maybe a king pin has snapped. Looking at how the wear mark on the swivel housing doesn't line up with the seals anymore, it may well be

Also the nut on the shackle was working its way loose

Not to worry though, the housing needs replacing because of this damage from the Rotorua W.C.

And it would be a good opportunity to fit this:

Luckly in my parts stash I have another housing ready and waiting

Might also be a good time to finally fit this too

I better get busy, Muppet Fest is only 2 weeks away

Re: WEAPON
I managed to sneak the Weapon in to the work shop for the day on Saturday.
I had a couple of mod's in the pipe line a year ago so I could drive it a bit harder, but that was before I realised I wasn't as into the type of competitive driving I was doing as I thought, so it all got shelved for a while.
After bending the front housing the other weekend doing mad crazy skids at an off road racing event, and going co-driver at the Nationals for a round reminded me what I used to enjoy about competition, and about the truck.
You can enter it into something and have a blast, even if you finish last, it always finishes, and you can't help but grin when its on the rev limiter in 3rd and only just under control
So into the work shop it went, transfercase cradle, new pitman arm, new dif housing, new wheel bearings, new front diff gaurd, new drag link, new tie road and tie rod ends and new Transfercase bush's.
Mission owwwwwwwwn.

I have had the Calmini transfer case cradle for a year or so and never fitted it. I was always nursing the transfercase, getting of the gas up hills as soon as I got any sort of bounce happening. I was still tearing mounts and twisting stuff. So this is now under it

The front diff housing was bent in two different directions. it was tweaked back due to the impact that caused this damage on a night stage at the RWC:

Nice little line from the crown wheel rubbing:

I also smashed the the pitman arm off and the dodgy cut and weld steering

Blazed the diff guard on, and wound the new pitman arm into place.

The pitman arm is a special one-off. I took a standard Cressida pitman arm and had the ball joint pressed out of it and a taper pressed in. It now fits the standard unmodified SJ413 steering linkages. Hope I don't bend it!!!!
I didn't get any good pic's, but one of the big reasons I was puting off fitting a new housing was because of the die grinding work that had to be done on the inside of swivel housings to fit the CV's with the spidertraks rings.
You can kind of see some of it in this pic:

Also discovered a twisted spline on the short side axle. Bet it breaks this weekend

Anyway, I was at the work shop from 9am Saturday and got home at 2:30am Sunday. Mission complete

Re: WEAPON
The result is the front wheels are now straight again

And the T.Case might stay where its supposed to. 120hp and Rockhopper gear set make it work hard!!!!!

Got some vibes to sort out, I might need to do some more alignment work on the short jack shaft between the gear box and T.Case, but other than that, it's all good.
