Re: rear trailing arms
1 1/4'' would be a little small for a safari wouldn't it?
Re: rear trailing arms

Re: rear trailing arms
Hi,
What is the wall thickness, even though CrMo is about twice the yeild strength of Mild steel pipe, because it is thinner it maybe more prone to impact damage causing a dent such that it may then bend. Also think 1 1/4" sounds quite small.
Cheers

Re: rear trailing arms
the std arms are about 1.8-2.0mm wall thickness, they bend/ break very easy.Even if the CrMo is only 3-4mm it would have to be a heap stronger?
If I did one again(safari) I would make the arms much longer(approx 300mm)needs new pick up/cert etc but would be worth the effert ,helps stop bounce esp when climbing.
Can buy a long arm kit from Oz,most Kiwi's would just make it them self or get a mate do it.
post the pics Coxsy when you get it done

Unfortunately, the long arm kits are only available for the LWB, as there appears to be no room on the shorties chassis for moving the mounts foward
Re: rear trailing arms
going to add a strip of flat to the bar as superior do to add strenght , jig made up at work so 16mm longer is not a problem have new bushes here too,
just to make it fun overtime needs to be done, so if i get time will do one up for a sample see how we go
its a bugger when work gets in the way

Re: rear trailing arms

as for flat bar I've never seen them on trail arms but I wouldn't be surprised if people did it,would definitely add strength and if you've got the space I wouldn't see why not
