Picked up the bellhousing for Possum's boy Hayden today, rover V8 to toyota but we dont know what sort of toyota box it was made for, its been cut, welded and redrilled a few times before so we had it welded, machined and redrilled for his hilux box and a new spigot bush turned up, dunno anything about hiluxs and rover conversions but were going to find out. Got a rover pressure plate and a diesel cruiser clutch plate for it and still have to work out what release bearing to use coz the hilux one we got was too small for the pressure plate?

Took the alternator out of the Safari this morning, taking to to an auto sparky to check over. i couldnt see anything majorly wrong with it and its only 2 years old. Little bit of dried mud in it but hardly any.

We Took a few of the Norwest OHV club out on Sat to have a bit of a play day before Ron took them up top Whangas Road on Sunday which I couldn't do unfortunately.

I think Simon and the rest of the of the OHV boys had a fun day on Sat, plenty of winching, plenty of mud, plenty of carnage :) 3 punctures, a Safari panhard rod snapped in two, a couple of bent and broken Zuk springs. all good muddy fun :)

Tried to get the Lada road legal. And failed.

Put new seals in the brake master cylinder. The brake pedal has no pressure as of yet, so lots more bleeding to do

Oh well, it's all for the best I suppose

decided i had better do some work on the 40 as our yearly trip to dave hintz farm at taihape is only a couple of weeks off .funds are a bit tight after our usa trip but have had a pair of longfields sitting in the garage for about 6 months .so in they went .one of the kingpin bearings fell apart on disassembly,Had to dig pretty deep in the garage to find a replacement .Borrowed a mates brake flaring tool to remake a couple or brake lines that were leaking .discovered that the clutch slave cyclinder is leaking as well .will steal the one i have put aside for the prado and replace it as funds appear.another day should see it all ready .got a couple of stuck brake caliper pistons to unseize and a fiddle brake lever to free up then will be ready to go :D bring on the mud

Like wise Mark.
That mud is wicked. Have to use alot of anger to get through it.
Speed and horsepower count for everything.
What a blast.
Whanga's was good today and it rained all day too.
There was a slip while we were in there and had to cut and dig our way back out. We got out ok. In the car park I looked to see why the cv's were clattering so much. Reached in throught the shreaded boot and pulled out half the bearing cage in three bits and couldn't find any of the balls :? Oh well they had a good innings as they are the same ones that came with the truck 3 years ago. They lasted 2 diffs, 32 inch tires, and hours of abuse.
Good thing I didn't need them to drive the 6 hours home :P
Pics and vid come.
Cheers to all the new people I meet over the weekend.
Big thanks to Ron and Rikki for the hospitality and for the workshop to repair the days carnage.

The camera didn't come out much as it was so wet all weekend.
So I only got a couple of pictures and a wee bit of video.
First off, Ron our host was giving me heaps for bringing a "knife to a gun fight"
Image
I struggled for the first couple of hours, then got the hang of the conditions.
His Jeep was a weapon and drove everything. Until this,
Image

Whanga' was cool 8)
Image

This was us going past the new slip that must of happened within minutes of us getting to there.
Many hands make light work.
Image

Ron's son nearly rolled his Terrano and the zuk ripped out the front shock of the tower (can see it in this vid)
Good time. Rikki got most of the good video. I'll try get some off one of the clubbies that came along (Hilux)

Cheers,
