Question about the SD33T

Post by aussie_male1au »

G'day guys,
Those that have followed my posts would now know I am the proud owner of a MK that I got off TAZ. Don't give him too much flak, 1st person I got a vehicle off that was up-front about what needed to be looked at which is rare..well, that's enough otherwise his ego will take over
Question is about the SD33T is I have just been told that the factory turbo could be swapped for an aftermarket version with more boost without affecting the engine and some are on 20-30%.
What turbo would you recommend, approx cost of one, contacts that have them and, lastly, what is the general consensus in doing this? Main points to take in consideration, budget is tight (have to work out beer vs beast), skill set is low (though going through a steep learning curve  ) and AM an aussie

Cheers for that mate, as for the death shakes, only happened once but am going to Tauranga at the end of the month. Hopefully will have parts replaced before then. Replaced the steering damper and that's assisted, have just ordered some tie rod ends so will change those over prior.

just a note the parts the Aussie forum guys get are really hard to find in NZ at a respectable cost .......you can boost the old girls turbo a bit they run standard at 6 or 7 psi but can run at 12 no problems or major changes even running an inter cooler will make a big difference and screw the diesel intake out mmm black smoke just think of it as your returning the fossil fuel back to where it come from
