1995 Escudo

Post by JFH »

Hi there. i have a 1995 escudo 5dr v6 and every morning when i start the car it makes a squeeling noise off and on for maybe 3mins. and now its starting making a noise when accelerating that sounds like a little radio control car is under the bonnet. Truck still runs great and feels normal. any ideas??

It will be a loose fan, power steering, or airconditioning belt, will need to be tensioned or possibly replaced

Yep, Lift the bonnet and check all the belts for excessive play.

Yes or any of the others (if any). Its very easy to tighten up, takes all of 5 min. I have to do mine every few months due to the thrashing I give it. (Just realised that you have the v6, I have the 1600 so might be harder, some one else will know)

If you are really desperate try some CRC stop belt slip, but beware that if your belts are worn too much then they will go bang.

Lucky for those with a 1600!!! :D

One belt on the v6 took 3 hands, lots of swearing and a little skin. From memory it was the aircon belt and it still squeels a little as the belt is worn. Might pay to change it if you can afford it.
