I don't see an issue, I've always filled diffs to the hole, not on litres as have most others i've talked to. I have had others find out the hard way that filling them past the bung (over filled) causes them to pressurise and hussle oil out everywhere but to the bung has always been fine...
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

That more a sign the inner seals are gone and/or your breather is blocked. mine was under filled and i had same issue you had with having oil in cvs
Re: 21/22 may
try again, if filled to the hole the axles tubes are full of oil
but will check the breather
but will check the breather

Yep thats right. If you have a look in a manual it says it will take 5.2 litres of oil which when i did mine it came to the filler bung. seems weird i know.

Its not the thread to post tech in, but hell, why not.
The Safari front diff is a high pinion 9" diff.
As a result the pinion is up "high".
This means the oil level in the front diff needs to be high enough to lubricate the pinion bearing, which sits up at roughly the same height as the axle shafts.
Buy under filling the front diff (i.e not filling up to the correct level, which is specified by the level plug), you pinion bearing will run dry and fail prematurely.
As the oil level in the diff has to be high to lubricate the pinion bearing properly, it becomes far more noticeable when the front inner axle seals have worn.
Worn axle seals result in what you are experiencing, the diff oil migrates out into the swivel housing and dilutes the greese.
The ONLY fix is to replace your inner axle seals and make sure you get them in straight and undamaged.
Running your diff with less oil in it will only damage your pinion bearing.
I did some skids in The50 at the weekend. It was good
