What to use to make driveshafts?

Post by turoa »

What can I use to make new driveshafts? I need a hilux UJ on one end and rover on the other. I *could* adapt the rover driveshafts but they will run out of flex and one of the fronts is stuffed.

What type of materials can I use?

Cheers

what do you mean exhaust pipe? PVC looks much nicer

If I want to make it to rallywoods then ill probably have to make some temp square ones and pull the rear half shafts while its being towed.

How bad is a square shafts vibration?

heres my opinion.....

get your hands on 2 hilux surf rear driveshafts(they have longer yolkes and will drive througha higher angle),take them and your rover ones into your drive shaft fab shop, with the right measurements(total length compressed)and get them to shorten the shaft and stitch the rover end on,or use the surf end and re-drill it to suit the rover flange. will be about $60 each not ballanced $120 each ballanced....ish

just an idea for ya
