sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
can anyone give me some info on what diffs gearboxes and transfer boxes i can use in my 92 samurai. Do the 413s use the same diffs and ratios etc. Cheers
Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
The samurai diffs flange to flange are wider than the sj410 and 413, but the diff heads should swap over no worries, the transfers are very similar but as to the final ratio coming out of the low range gear sets in each transfer i cant confirm any ratio differences?
Hope this was helpful

Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
cheers. any ideas on ratios
Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
sj413 diff are 3.9 ratio, samurai are 3.7. Transfers are the same. Flange stud pattern on the transfers is the same, (M8 for memory, stand to be corrected) coily transfer goes up to M10
What are your plans for it, some good upgrades for the sammys especially with the strong american $$$$ to NZ $$$$

Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
Samurai , Sj413 and SJ410 all have different driveshaft flange bolt spacing .
samurai and sj413 have the same transfer case, flanges can be interchanged.
Sj410 has a different transfer with a 12% lower high range gearing and 20% ?? Lower low range
Flanges are not interchangeable with the samurai and Sj413.
A 410 transfer can be used by making 410/413or Sami hybrid drive shafts with a 410 flange at the transfer end.
Samurai has 3.7 ratio diffs , SJ413 has 3.9 ratio diffs, interchangeable between housings .
SJ410 has 4.11 ratio diffs that will not fit the 413/Sami housings

Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
has a locker in the rear but the diff is rough and whiny so am lookn to replace it. am also going to do a g16a conversion to it and am wondering what the best driveline options are for both on and off road. cheers

injected, injected, pm ben here who does the conversion kit. Run 31s, either 2 inch suspension lift or do some body lovin and run 31s on your standard suspension to make the most of the low COG and track
Re: sj413 diffs g/box samurai question
it has a 3 inch lift

Go for the 16v G16A. The 8V has slightly more torque low down, but the 16V just loves the rev limiter

Cheapest gearing option is to go to 413 diff heads.
You can also look for a 410 Flat deck transfer case (harder to find) which has a 3 to 1 low ratio and swap the flanges over. This seems the best option for a club truck where you need to move along the easier tracks at speed - without needing to change up to high ratio (like you have to with a 4 to 1 transfer case).
