Diesel marks on ground under truck

Post by vandewc »

Not much of a mechanic. I have noticed what smells like diesel spots under my truck on the drive.
I cant see any obvious signs but then again not sure where Im meant to be looking.

Any advise for a novice?

Is it coming out under the left lower control arm?
  edit, RIGHT!
Hmm, Terrano, fuel leak, not much......... Injection Pump.
Common problem.
Find second hand pump or get a firm quote from a specialist.
If it is any consolation, mine has been leaking for about a year.
Just a warrant issue and it wreaks the rubber mounts on that side,
like the engine, sway bar mounts, and the control arm bushes
Cheers,

If the underbody is really muddy etc you are better off giving it a good clean under there then park it over a big sheet of cardboard or similar so you can pin point the areas were the drips are coming from, then climb under the there with a torch and have a good look around.

It could be old perished hard lines/hoses or loose hose clamps etc
