Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Time to man up (or women up??) for - the legendary RUNVA TOUGH TRUCK ROTORUA CHALLENGE!!!!!
The big announcement is that RUNVA are coming on board this year as our main sponsor meaning some awesome prizes!
Lasts year's event had roll overs, stage dnfs and vehicle fires – and that was day one so get your trucks sorted and get involved for what is always one of the toughest winching comps in NZ or anywhere!
The event is now confirmed for the 15 – 17th July and for the first time we'll be running the event at the new TECT All Terrain Park. The area we'll be using is a designated motorsport area and is simply awesome with varied stages to test both man and machine.
Spectators - This year we'll be opening the event to spectators on the Saturday and the Sunday morning so even if you're not part of a crew or getting into the thick of things by helping us out marshaling, you can still come along and check out the racing. Also on display will be the Top to Bottom Toyota FJ Landcruiser. Entry will be by gold coin with the Lions Club donating it to the Rotorua Community Hospice - a fantastic cause!
We'll be running the Club and Challenge Classes and the new Modified Class. 4X4 Challenges have again been approached to conduct and control our scrutineering phase, with the following restrictions:

The whole comp is being held at the TECT All Terrain Park. The terrain is similar to mamaku though and based on a trip up there last week lots of winching and mud will be on the cards.

Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Cool will get the entry sent off over the weekend ,Shame not to be in the Mamaku"s again but hopefully wont be changing out 2 or 3 alternators and radiators.
is there a secure area at the Tech park to leave comp trucks or do we have to transport back to Rotorua each day?
Cheers Steve

Awesome, good to have you involved. Yeah the Mamaku's are a pretty 'special' place but this area gives us a lot more freedom and variety and will still be just as much of a challenge (the radiators and alternators will get tested!!

As for the security, we are working through the detail at the moment so I'll hopefully have an update on it next week. I'll put that competitor list up on Sunday so for those that haven't entered and put their deposit in, get them done so I can include you on the list.
Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011

Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
We had a great day up at the TECT park today marking out the tracks. Big thanks to those who attended - awesome effort.
So far we have marked 9 tracks with a good mix of technical and high speed open stuff which should test the bravery levels! The tracks we have identified so far will allow easy access for spectators around a central point so should be great to watch.
We'll be up there again in the coming weeks marking out some more tracks but its definitely looking good.
A reminder to those who are yet to book accomodation, with school holidays over the dates we are running the challenge its worth getting in soon to make sure you don't miss out.
Cheers

Ah but Rotorua Motels have Hot Pools

"It's a Suzuki thing - you wouldn't understand !"
Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Is there any camping onsite at the tect park?
Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Madaz wrote:Is there any camping onsite at the tect park?
Not this year (its something we're going to look at for next year). But there is camp sites available at the Rotorua Thermal Park and it includes free use of hot pools and their heated swimming pool.
In terms of where the park is located relative to Tauranga/Rotorua, it is 29kms from Tauranga, 27kms from Rotorua and 30kms from Te Puke
Got your truck sorted yet? You might even get a chance to test out that semi exo you added

Cheers

Ha Ha, your a bit late for that, Norwest allready popped the roof bars cherry!
They work ok, but dont save you when you hit a tree a 40ks, moved pillar back a couple of inches

Seriously though, are you expecting comp to be a bit hard on panels?
Cheers
Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011
Nah no more than normal but we do try and make it one of the more challenging events.
The area the comp is being held is through production thinned trees so it shouldn't be too bad.

Big trip planned up to the TECT park this weekend with the club to mark out the rest of the tracks and clear them ready for racing. Hopefully we'll get a chance to send some trucks through and take some teaser vids to give you an idea of what you're in for!
