rotor spacers? Whats wrong with the original IFS rotors that are made to fit the IFS calipers/hubs? Arent they the same size an vented?

You have to modify and remount the Caliper to do that and you have to redrill the rotor for the wheel studs (thats the way I have done mine). I believe Tim's reasoning was to be able to able to use all factory parts that are readily available.

You're spot on with the reasoning Rock, and proved the point last year when I destroyed the radius arm and shocky in the middle of the bush behind Ikamatua, left the truck in the bush went to Westport, borrowed a radius arm off Flag and a nissan shocky from nuts fitted (mounted upside down) back in to the bush the next day and drove it home like that to Chch, if they were all custom parts getting mobile again is a bigger problem.
As for the IFS rotors they are smaller in diameter than a normal hilux/prado rotor, they can be used with a smaller simpler spacer but they don't make full contact with the brake pads so can't be certed, as rock says major mods to factory bits are needed.
As for the hubs the Aisin ones are far superior in strengtgh to the other listed brands, keep looking or put a wtd ad on TM, in fact there's a front and rear axle on there at the mo with aisins that is being parted out, seen it a few days ago

Update is coming Tim. I have been doing lots of fiddly unnecessary mods (well as far as making it go better anyway  ). Stuff like encasing the winch, triple overhead radio console, new triple sticks, hidden wiring loom, encased snorkel, reworking the coilovers and all the body work. I have been taking pics along the way, so when it has an undercoat on, I will post up all the shit that has been done.
Trust me, it is still happening  :P

Ive noticed with the ifs hub swap that every thread ive seen people have been using landcrusier/ hilux stub axles out of leaf beam axles. Is it possible to use the original prado stub axles? Also im thinking that keeping with the stock ifs steering box mite suit me, will the i have a problem with the pitman arm and the panhard rod mount clashing? or will i still be best to move it forward?

Thanks

you can use the prado stub axles but you'll have to use an adapter to run the manual hubs, as for the steering box you dont have to shift it just makes things easier to all fit and of course you get a stronger steering box.

Hey Tim

When you put the axle back together do you remember which seals and bearings you used from a hilux and prado. Was going to get a complete seal and bearing kit from bnt but think the hilux stub axles may be bigger in circumference and the bearings may have to be used instead of prado ones, Also herd somewhere that there is a seal that has to be replaced off a hilux when running ifs hubs otherwise dirt/grit gets into the bearings. Any help will be awesome. Thanks

After your SAS?
if so it should still be going into 4x4 fine, light won't activate on dash because old IFS diff removed and that activated light on dash, I can't remember color of wire but it's the plug that went to the IFS diff, all you have to do is bridge the pins and when you activate 4wd the light circut is completed and light on dash will work
