I'm running 15" wheels with 33" tires, my spare wheel lives in the back of my truck and takes up shitloads of room.
Has anyone tried running a larger rim with a smaller tire as a spare.. Say 18" rim with a 215 tire to make up the same circumference as the 15-33" ? obviously not gonna be as good offroad but heaps lighter and take up way less room....

Re: Ghetto space saver
if it ends up being the same circumference as your original, is there any room being saved at all?
ultimately, do you know the weight difference between the two?
wouldnt it just be the same as driving around with a half tank compared to three quarter? surely not enough in the interim to warrant worrying about...?
