I have an embarassing confession.

Post by Generickiwi »

I have owned my Terrano for just over 3 months, and it has still to be made dirty under my ownership.

It's seen sand for about 10 minutes (and had a heavy bath straight afterwards) and been along beautifully groomed metal tracks through forestry areas, but hasn't been properly dirty.

Which means yes, I am an off-roading virgin.

There, I've said it... and I'm not proud

*flees*

...in saying that, must find newbie friendly terrain with which to give the kids a real car wash to earn their pocket money!

That is all, carry on.

Are you in a club?

It's a great way to get into 4wding - many have 'shiny' runs for the newbies...

Probably popping along to the Manukau club meeting tomorrow...

Anybody know what the subs are worth? Bit shy on info on their website, and need to get a release of funds from the War Minister (wife) in case I do something silly like join...

you wont need to pay until you become a member. From memory its about half a tank of fuel in total, including national asson fees.

Righto, well I went along last week to the Manukau meeting - what a good bunch of buggers.

So I've been talked into a club run this coming Sunday - good bit of newbie play time out Waiuku way - gonna be a lot of fun.

Applied for membership, after talking to so many guys and hearing so many awesome stories and ideas, how could I not?

Will have to write up a weekend report once my shiny-ness has been taken from me :D

None whatsoever!

Now, if you'd just release my family, and call off the guys with the baseball bats...

***UPDATE!!!***

My virginity is gone.

As of the 19th of June, 2011 - I am now initiated in the way of the bush.

Went out with the Manukau club folks for the Westpac fund raiser, and what a hell of a day :D

Long story short, I tried everything once, got towed once, and have been told by my two kids that if I ever go again and don't take them, they they will choose the shittiest rest home in existence come retirement age.

I drove places you could never have convinced me a vehicle could go a few months ago, and learned a shit load about myself and my vehicle.

So many more lessons to go - damn shame!
