Hey all, name's Vince and am pretty new to this offroad gig but have had several old series landies in the past and played a little, gently, off road.

Anyway decided I needed a double cab and figured if I was gonna own anything that ugly it best be under several layers of mud frequently... and you can never have enough money eating hobbies?

Ended up with this little guy:









1989 2.7L Diesel Navara D/cab... have removed the silly canopy and am looking forward to bolting on some recovery hooks and getting it dirty... have some tires and a Turbo in it's immediate future too... assuming I can figure out why the engine has started doing retarded stuff thankfully I have a "friendly" diesel mech who I can ask for help

Heaps of helpfull advise to be had on here , suppose to be reliable trucks with 2.7.
If you let us know what your location is it helps with possible hook ups fdor trips etc.

Thanks Coro, I'm based in auckland (havn't figured out how to add location yet) and I have a good friend affiliated with a club (must find out which and if he is on here) so will try and get out with him/them soonish but keen as to get out there and have a go.

Will likely have a look at one of the courses too, some of the clubs seem to need proof of completion to let you join... are they worth doing or is it better to just go on a few trips to prove (hopefully lol) that I'm not a muppet?... perhaps both

Welcome to ORE, as to your question about doing a course well that is up to you, but going on a tag along with some one else is always a good start and also knowing someone who is already in a club too, either way you will gain knowledge.

Also Auckland is also vast too so you could narrow that down too, as there might be fellow ORE'rs near to you who live in Auckland.

You will find heaps of info here for your truck. They are basically the same as the Terrano's with engines and running gear.
Have a good old search around here, reading will keep you busy through these cold winter nights.

More detailed location: am based in Mission Bay so a fair hike to any mud but that's all good.

Lincooln, will have to look you guys up soonish am keen to get myself attached to a club and actually attend some runs! and nope, no Renault Fuego here lol, is a long story... for another day

Have been lurking and reading the site rather a lot and getting plenty of good info. Will purchase and mount some recovery gear so I am ready to go. still hunting around to find the best mounting points for hooks at the moment. Good to see the truck is a little unique, could only find one other Navara on here and that is a pretty serious bit of kit so looking forward to trying mine out in the real world!

Ah thought you had been lurking with the Muppet thing and straight into posting photos , I still require babysitting with the photo thing but on the agenda to get photos of my recent truck and post , this weekend hopefully , currently battling up to Auck from Tauranga by sea , so in Auck for weekend for maintenance work on ship and safari maybe, sshhh.
