Dude, firstly I know the guy who does a lot of warranty work for Dayne quite well, virtually every turbo that goes over his bench is stuffed due to engine bits going through the center housing, or no oil going through it..

The turbo I have is one such warranty one, it arrived in a brand new state at the new owners house, he fitted it (without cleaning any of the old bits of engine bearing out of the oil feed and within 10 minutes the turbo was lunch.

Dayne was called up by the guy who was crying and sobbing on the other end of the phone saying how it was the DSR430 that had the issue and was adamant it was not anything to do with a fitting error, and instead of getting it in the ear Dayne sent a replacement turbo.. Only to find that it was actually indeed a fitting error.

So don't be so hasty to jump on the band wagon unless you know what your talking about..

i know what i'm talking about i also a know a brand new turbo should hold boost not loose boost and i also know daynes customer skills are not adequate and as a supplier should be happy to investigate why it wasn't working, not telling the customer to fark off and also create a new trade me account after his first account has such crap feedback. and there is so much negative feedback to his product.

why werent these turbos taken back by him and sent to your mate to be checked out instead of him basically telling them to fark off?

At the end of the day, neither of us were there, you have no way of knowing how the customer reacted when they stuffed their brand new turbo, usually its blaming the first person they see, The dyno guy who says it was probably your mechanics fault and if that happens to be the customer then it must be the turbos fault!!.

But anyway, I will be fitting my DSR430 to my 5L-T without a wastegate, if it breaks I wont be crying. Im willing to bet it is going to work, and very well at that.

Mud Slinger, I think you should go back to driving a Primer. Actually we sell over 6 kits for td42 kits a week. A lot of them are readers of this forum and each one of them has had no trouble with the dsrturbo patrol kit. Go and Sling your primer in the primer forum. If you have nothing good to say. LEAVE

This is a good size. if you use -6 it will cause the oil to blow out the seals. The Turbo I sent you should have some with a billet oil return plate with a brass fitting. please source a oil return pipe that can fit this brass fitting.

When fitting any journal bearing turbo you should replace oil filter/s, change oil. Prime engine till oil is coming through oil feed line ( good 150mm ) Connect oil feed line to turbo. Crank again - till oil is gushing from oil return line. Connect oil return line. Then start engine. Check for any problems ( leaks ) Then you are ready to go.

This Primera forum Rob I'm over it. so forgive me if I seem up tight. It is all because of one guy that purchased a Turbo that did not make as much power as he wanted and wanting a refund. i rejected him. he then black mailed me with posting on every forum in the land ( which he did ) and this is where we are now.

Its what counts now and what has counted for the past two years that is whats important. Not members bringing up baggage and bad mouthing myself hard when they have never dealt with myself personally. I will always stick up for myself.

Yeah DSR turbo has 984 positive feedbacks with 1 neutral and no negatives. So yeah his products must be complete crap!!!

But upon saying that I have heard from reliable sources that the thrust bearings in the turbo don't last the same as a Garrett but they are 1/3 the price too!!!

The thrust washers have been upgraded sine the first release of the DSR turbos.
Ive built crap loads of turbo engines and I wouldn't use a Shit turbo, the DSR430 turbo is a robust unit. Im just waiting for the new DSR series to come out with the Holset center mmmm..

FYI, if you are concerned about longevity of the rotating assembly, the bearing and seals and thrust washers are all available as standard Garret parts.

A Garret bearing and seal kit as I had fitted to my DSR Turbo is $150.

I also had it balanced as well seeing as it was apart on the bench.

It's a great piece of kit $$ for $$

I had a DSR TD42 kit on my old safari(sold now)went very well, esp for the price(hole kit cost less than a garret turbo)3 of my friends have also brought kits one of them not finished yate, all happy at this stage.
I did have a small problem with mine(should have got the ext gate model)I called Dayne we tryed a few different things over a peroid of time and he always keep to his word.

I would buy from DSR again

no, didnt get billet plate or brass fitting with the turbo thats why i asked the question as there is no way of knowing the "ideal size" for return pipe....would make it alot easier fitting up rather than making something up.
