80 series aftermarket exhaust issues

Post by wjw »

Fitted the new exhaust today, have hit a slight snag, need to make a plate to drop the mount a bit (unless anyone has any better ideas?):

Even with it dropped this far, it touched on the floor pan:

Had to get a crow bar in there to stop it vibrating. Also on the factory exhaust there is a mount here:

But I had to remove it to fit the new one... This means the front part of the exhaust to the flex joint is hanging off the 4 bolts on the turbo. Anyone know if this is an issue?

depends on how much weight is bearing down on turbo output flange. might stress the manifold a bit more than ideal..
I'd be ringing the supplier to abuse them for a fix or refund
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..

Well got it sorted for the moment.

Callum, due to the difference in weight, there is no need for the bracket that comes off the gear box..phew!

Having driven around today I found another place where it's touching:

Some gentle massage with a crowbar and some ignorance gave a fingers width between the Aircon hoses and the exhaust.

And safaripete, copied your idea, at least until I can get someone with a bender to adjust the bends in the top tube:
