Ashley river

Post by RJT »

Thinking about doing the Ashley river from SH1 to the gorge or vice versa, Sunday 19th this month, probably starting around 9 or 10.

At the moment have 4 vehicles firm (all toyota affair at present :D ) and a couple of maybes. If anybody is interested let us know and we'll sort it all out.

Cheers, Rhys.

Not this time. Can you do that? I've fished up in the gorge and some parts look damn near impassable! I think we will just head up river from SH1 to goon, and/or carry on up to the gorge.

have done the gorge a few times, but a fair while ago now. It is double diff lock with 35" tyres minimum area as the rocks under the surface are reasonably large and some of the crossings are quite deep (around 5' plus). I thnk I recall seeing that it is off limits to vehicles recently, but can't be sure.

In that case, a few of us have 33" tyres with 1 locker max probably won't cut it then
Right.... Time and place. Possibly meet at 10 at the rest area just off SH1, head off up river at about 10.20 or so.
The more the merrier! Will hopefully be quite soft out there if the Waimak is anything to go by, Pretty squishy out there.
I'm sure somebody will have a spare seat.

Whoever carries on from goon can choose what way they want to go I guess. No stress trip, can split up if ya want :). All I know is I'm definitely going to be at the SH1 entrance to the river around 10. Hope to see a good turnout!!
