Best land anchor angle?

I'm trying to find out what the best angle for the blade is.
The current angle pictured doesn't work well.

I've got nothing here to measure the angles but you can compare the shape of mine to your one Pete, Both of mine only have a small difference in angles, I've never used the yellow one but we took the red one up to the costa tuff truck last year and it worked well pulling a couple of cruisers and a safari out in the boggy padock conditions over there, it pulled out heaps but you'd expect it to in those conditions, most of the time we tried to set it behind gorse bushes where theres a bit of root structure to hold the soil together and it was pretty successful. Stinky has got a template of the dimensions and angles of my red one down at their workshop.

I forget the name of the steel the blade was made from. But it's the same steel used on digger buckets.
I was told the mig I have wouldn't get the steel hot enough for good penetration so Corey's doing it for me.

heres a tip that an engineer told me a while back about welding "hard" steel

preheat the area with the oxy/acet set first to around 300 to 400 degrees by memory then the steel will take the weld alot better

ive done it on hardened steel rod and the welds were mint compared to welding onto the cold steel

the steel is most probably Bisalloy, and yeah heat the bugga up till its just starting to get a slight shimmering look before it starts to go pale and then blue

as a rule of thumb in the attachment industry...
if when u spit on it and it instantly bubbles and fizzes then thats all good

And though what it's welded to isn't the same steel it shouldn't crack. it should be strong as fark. Corey's an artist when it comes to welding.

Hey Pete, from memory.. 35 deg on all cuts of steel.. could be 32 as I managed to come by a very reputable anchor maker and I copied it.. and then like others have said the length from tip to hook where rope attaches is the key, if you need to make sure I can check my anchor.. Oh and what has worked real good is if you reverse the blade.. yea I know but that works extremely well, tried and proven.. I'm even contenplating doing it.. cheers K

You're quite right.
I was just trying to generalize.
But yeah, it's hard to get a tire that suits all conditions.
