Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)
Thanks yea was going to wrap with header wrap aswel. Alloy foil sounds like it might not be ideal in the long run
Hope yours doesnt all fall off before you get the truck finished
There's gotta be some rocks round here SOMEWHERE!
Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)
Think ripco sells alloy exhaust heat wrap (racetech i think) in 10m rolls for about $40

yea they do but it's pricey..lol compared to just normal rap and you get 15m.. reason I foiled it was to help keep the mud off and help radiate the heat better.. but I'll just rap the exhaust with wire if it starts to fall off totally..lol
Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)

Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)
well I've been trying to get the gawd dam painting done.. and I've just blown on the second to last coat on passenger side..waiting for it to dry so I can then get on as much paint as possible.. White is a gawd dam prick of a colour for cover.. doesn't cover fark all.. so you have to load it up..
anyway here a couple pics..

and

and

It will ned a nice final rub down with 1200-1500 paper, then a polish to bring it up nice..
It will be then ready for some graphics of some disscription..
(sponsers maybe..
- if any would like to now please PM me..
)
Still thinking of adding a blower for shyts and giggles..
so will have to watch this space..
Cheers enough for now..

Well not much to report BUT I have got the on board entertainment area sorted.. Sounds sick..
It's good to have good sounds when cruising..
Looking at getting to tahs shortly.. Looking at the Dynapro 33's and at a bit over $300 each inc not a bad deal.. A mate is getting them for me at trade price.. Once thats done then I'll start the bar work.. and then get the air system sorted too.. so much to do and so little time..
Thats it.. cheers

Well had an interesting day today,
Daniel has come and got my old body..Glad to see it heading to a new home where it's going to get the loving it needs..

and here is Dan proud as punch..

and now I've got this to get rid of..

Then I might be able to get some decent tahs..
Things to do..
Bar work
More bar work...
Might lift the rear deck yet..

Install radio communications, GPS, etc
make up some rear mud gaurds..zzzz
TAHS
CERT... Did I miss anything..? maybe some spit and polish..
Pictures later of interior etc when I can bothered..lol
Funny as it has turned out.. seeing as I started with a chassis like a year ago and now having a chassis left.. weird..Oh well more will come laterzzzz

Are you selling the rolling Chassis Kerry?
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)
well thought I'd chuck my old 33's on for looks and see whats needed for bar work and to check tolerences etc..
Might need to hack the deck off due to tah to deck clearence..might get away with it as I have 125mm from top of tah to deck BUT cross axle may be different storey..

Here is it with the 33's on side view..
Also think it might need more lift..LOL

And here is a pic of how far the tahs stick out from the gaurds..lol Heaps wider than the ol 70.. tahs would just sit outside the gaurd and now they are approx 120mm wider..lol
so I got a bit of work ahead of me still..
Good thing so far is I almost have enough to buy some tahs.. And i'm still debating 33 over 35's..
but for the time being.. might stick with the 33's for club runs..etc..
More later
Cheers K

Re: New truck..80 series chassis / 70 series cab.. :)
Well seems an update is in order..
Been ttrying my luck at building front bars..
and wut a farking drama..lol
bloody hard when you get a bender for 1 day and pre bend everything so I don't have to hire it again..
You can see the bits under the truck thats left.. imagine all the bends sitting under there and working out how it's gonna look..
anyway I'm reasonable happy with them so far..Just need a 5mm plate to cover the lower front bit where the fairlead will be.

and here is a pick that I took lastnight.. notice it's sitting roughly where it will when finished.. I need new springs.. even the new front ones aren't high enough..

and this was one side done.. sitting low as it is now..

All thats needed now is to unbolt it and finish off the welding and buff the joins etc..
then work out how to attach the sliders then attach to chassis at the other end..
seems to just go on and on and on
Will be looking at tahs soon and I'm still debateing wether to get 33's or 35's.. LOL
maybe a poll is in order..?
cheers K that's all
