Coast trip 18/19 June 2011

Post by petefj40 »

Cheers for the invite Nathan.
Though only 3 out 6 trucks could make it due to the latest shakes in Chch, it was still an awesome trip. Me and Reon could only do the Friday night Saturday there. But here are some pictures of the private spot we had the privilege to drive on.
I'll upload some more video clips later. I only managed to upload 2 at the minute.

This part of the South makes you proud to be born and breed here.

It was great to get an invite to that place as it's not open to the public. Invite only. So I'm thankful I got asked to go..
I'd jump at the chance to go there again.

I'm uploading some more short clips. Though some angles shot just don't do the terrain justice.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Private land all the same Jason. Mike, the share owner, had the keys to the huts.

yip fantastic place to go, spent heaps of nights in that last hut which must be one of the best huts around. I hope you got the old pot belly glowing and a good bonfire.

I assume you crossed the flat over to the old deer stalkers hut?

Nah. We mainly drove on Mike and Pete's blocks further east from Lake Daniels. Their blocks border Daniels.

The second day I wasn't there. That was when Mike took Nathan and Damien further a field to Lake Daniels. Nathan had been to Lake Daniels plenty of times like most I guess. But it was his first time on Mike and Pete's private blocks east from there. I gather not many people have done the tracks we did last weekend.

looks great, ill have to meet those guys one day. family has a house a couple of k's up the road so spend heaps of time up there, they are basically my neighbours.

For future refrence got a spare garage or two and power for welders etc if anyone has problems in there (we always smash things in those tracks, all part of the fun. )

I was surprised how well Mike and Pete's places were set up for tours. They had all the gear. Awesome Huts (with sky for fark sakes). But it's nice to know of more friendly help not far away. CHEERS!!
With any luck I hope to get another invite before the winter is over. All the tracks we drove on weren't rutted out, guessing that they don't do many tours. So we all felt privileged to be there.
Also. When Mike does do a tour. 5 or 6 trucks is the maximum number he'll take at a time. So there's stuff all wait time, meaning you can cover a lot of ground in one day.
