See the following link - http://www.arb.com.au/media/products/ai ... _chart.pdf

If your Nissan has a C200 front diff for instance a LSD from the rear of a Navara will fit.

bugger all as in you have actually done it? or thats just what you hear?
when people do this sort of thing it would really help to take pics, note model numbers etc and do a write up for the tech section. Way to much "a guy once told me" and not enough of "this is how you do it and this is what you need" around here.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

i don't know with the terrano but guys with navaras had a look at the silva etc rear diffs. the diffs are somewhat different and gears cut the other way. you might be able to use the LSD parts tho.

first thing need to know is if its the 180 or 200 front diff.

I've done lots of research into this, and to sum it up lots for you:
diesel/ 4cyl petrol terrano/ navara front diff= r180a
v6 terrano front diff = r200a
terrano rear diff = h233b
navara rear diff = c200

And there are ratio differences of course, but don't worry because they can be changed
Lsd in the 4x4's are mechanical (clutch-pack type)

And this may help those thinking of using a silvia/ skyline diff,
there are 3 different sizes, r180, r200 or r230.
The r230 is from 300zx, and skyline GTR (always lsd).
The r200 is often LSD, and found in many RWD nissans (turbo models usually r200 lsd)
The r180 is smaller and usually non-lsd. If you find a lsd r180 you've done well.
I think only non-turbo s14 silvia with lsd option has the r180v.
BUT- all these are VISCOUS lsd, not mechanical.
You could get an aftermarket 'nismo', 'kaaz' etc mechanical (usually known by the drift boys as 2-way, or 1.5way etc), But these are expensive ( I paid $900 for my 2way r200 for my silvia)

The main problem with viscous lsd (vLSD), is that the spline shafts are different, and would need to be modified to suit the different flange used in another application.

This just a quick generalisation that I may be wrong with (as its mainly based from internet searching)
Always remember that Nissan do some funny things. Theres always an exception to everyones rule, Just because people havent herd of it doesnt mean it doesnt exist...

Hope this helps you, and I'm real keen to hear from anyone who actually has done a LSD front conversion

I put a LSD in the front of my MK Safari (has a c200 front diff) used an LSD from a Navara which is a bit shagged so doesn't limit slip that much (suspect thrust washers are stuffed), however would suggest you don't put anything to aggressive in your front end as even a worn LSD makes the front sledge when trying to turn in 4wd.

Once you have your LSD diff centre all you have to do is swap your existing crown wheel on and reassemble, backlash can be set yourself with the shim plates that come out (doesn't have to be perfect in your front diff so just set up so it feels right when you rock crown wheel - i,e not to much slop)

Yea, will be a r180a. And probably have 3x2 bolt pattern on axle flanges. Later models went to 5x1, some seem to have 5x1 one side, 3x2 on otherside.

I've had a good play with all of the different configurations of cv's and shafts.
The 5 bolt inners, have the same spline count and pitch to insert in the diff head as the 6 bolt ones. The intermediate shaft is not compatible with the earlier 6 bolt cv's as they are bigger diameter and spline count. Same goes for the outer end of the shafts to the outer cv's. 6 bolt inner cv's mean the outers are 31 splines onto the hubs. 5 bolt inners have 27 splines onto the hubs.
I hope this helps someone.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
