what gearbox is this? 3pd auto from what...

pulled my transfer case yesterday, thanks caleb (uwshho), going to need to take the gearbox out because a bearing has collapsed i think which means the gears arent lining up...

my problem though is i dont know what the gearbox came out of... trucks certed with a chrysler box but the numbers dont match up with anything on the web. the shifter mechanism is on the wrong side and different to the box in my vg-vh hemi valiant manual. but apart from that its very similar.

could someone confirm its a chrysler box or tell me its out of somthing else.

I know vh valiants had the dip stick on the other side and it came out of the sump. The bolts in your pic at the rear with blue locktite are what Ford used. Then you had Chrysler avenger, leyland etc used BW trans, also Jag. But I would take a stab its ford. Bel housings were interchangable on BW35s and the like..

The bolts can be ignored for the most part i think because they all mismatched throughout.some are 6 point sockets and some are 12, some metric some imperial ect i think its a Chrysler box thats been modified but ill have a look at some of the older ford boxs and see if i can see if anything that matches

Yes you might be right but its not from a VG or VH they used a model C or D, maybe its even older??
