Kumho KL71

Hi Guys,

Just put a set of Kumho KL71 31x10.5x15 on my '92 Surf.
Fantastic tyres on the bitumen considering they are classified as mud tyres. I would have uploaded a picture or two but can't see how to do that....?

Yep are great tyres just make sure you keep pumped up to the correct pressure when using on road as they tend to wear very fast if under inflated.

I ran mine at35-36psi and got 2mm of wear for 30000km.

lowered them to 25-28 off road went awesome!

These seem to be really popular tyres at the moment. Seen them on all sorts of trucks...

But - being directional how are those of you who have them finding that?
I have previously used Kuhmo M/T tyres and been very impressed - but the KL71s are space age in comparison...

I know a bloke who got sponsored a set, used them once at a rally, gave them back the next week..hopeless.
All depends on what you are doing with your truck, my bro inlaw uses them on his hunting wagon and loves them, hardly any road noise. Yes, keep them tight cause they do wear.

My opinion on these tyres are is they are very good on the open road, I have had them for 3-4 years now and they are almost worn now, as for in the mud they aren't that great they turn into biscuits and need serious power to get the mud off, they dont clear as a Simex/Silverstone would do.

Once they are worn they make a great sand tyre .

have had many tyres,buckshots,bighorns,mudstars,kl71's,trepordors,
i rate kl71's above all these, i run the rears a 15psi and front 18psi,and have been dwn to 12psi,they wear well if you pump them up after if you dont ,they wear quick as,
they clear well and i run them on my safari,
but hey they aint a mud tyre as such nor the ones i hav listed above,
also had mud tyres simexs etc and now back to my 2nd set of creepys
the end of the day its what people can afford,
as long as you have fun who cares what tyres you run on your trucks

Certainly seem to wear well. I bought my prado with biscuit cutters fitted, so got hold of a cheap second hand set of KL71s with 6mm in the centre. Keep them at 40psi on road, been running for a year now, and 20,000km and only worn 1.5mm. Will certainly be looking at getting a new set!

i like em..had em on the xj nice lite 4wd , and plenty of power to clear em...want another set for river / road tah for the tj.... and cheap
