ln130 farm edition

Post by getsum »

saw this ln130 online a couple of months back.
figured it couldnt be too bad for 2k.
paid it without seeing it, knowing that it had a vibration in 4th/5th gear.

so i flew up to auckland that was paid for from a trip i won, got some rego and rucs, and began driving home.

headed from auckland to putaruru then back up to morrinsville then down to wanganui then home to reefton.

the vibration was annoying,it came in around 80kph and left at 100kph..auckland drivers seem to sit on 80kph just to be a pain :x

truck seemed to run sweet as other than that...
tyres are all near new Goodride A/Ts...so a change to muds may be needed..its pretty high for a standard truck so im thinking its had a bit of a lift...maybe??

carpets have been removed so i could see that the body is preety cancer free...bonus..

but then.......the fuel gauge started going up and down all over the show,i could handle that i guess...
the back window wouldnt go down..this made for some interesting tetris work when i stopped to collect 2 dirt bikes i had brought aswell  i pulled them apart and fed them through the passenger door...only just fitting too..

got it home without any hassles..

ive since found that the 4x4 system doesnt engage, seems to be missing a section of the loom that goes to the front diff.
the front uj in the rear driveshaft is toast which would indicate the vibration..

the rear window has been rigged up to 2 wires by the battery to rangi it open...must be a dodgey key lock switch unit..

all in all im happy with it, ive found the air filter is totally clogged,so ive biffed that and will get a new one asap..my 2" lift blocks are sitting waiting to be put in, have ordered the bolts today..picked up another slip yoke section for the driveshaft and the missing loom.
will fit those and check them out , see what happens..
will do the lift after the wof next month, then put some 33s on it,and get it certed...

plans after that:

make a steel snorkel myself
big bore exhaust to help save the motor
winch bar and winch
recovery gear
some kind of stereo( does get boring some times)

looks like a 2lte, motors are ok, watch the temps, install an aftermarket temp guage as well. cheap on gas too. disable the EGR system as well.

i want to put a larger exhaust on it for a start..
been told that the factory exhaust backs up heat into the manifold/turbo/head and crack, shes toast..

so if anyone has one for sale let me know :P

an egt would be a good idea...

if anyone knows the wire colours for the stereo id love to know what they all are..

i think ive found out how to do the 4x4 switch now..
but still need to find out what the other white and black wires are for...

you'll possibly find that the red, orange/yellow and black are ya power/earth and memory wires for the had unit. the others are speaker wires and will be in pairs of similar colours.. or colours similar with a black/white line distinguishing positive from the negative etc..

easiest is get ya head unit running with ignition on, find power supply with key on and put both ya head units power wires to that, also earth it up. it sounds cavalier but then touch test the head units output wires to 'pairs' of wires till ya get the appropriate doof doof in whichever corner. ya can label different speaker pairings as ya go. then after those sorted, go back and sort power supply with key on and off. done!

sounds cowboy but when ya workin with an unknown entity, its good to get back to basics...

sorry for vague answer, but its the best redneck cowboy with yoshi twang i could give..

the thing is theres no colour pairs really..

i dont have a head unit to chuck on it yet..

i know the yellow, red, black are usually for hook up the unit, and a blue one for the aerial(not sure which one though)..

all the speaker wires in the truck are running on the floor, probably because someone had butchered the loom and they didnt know what was what....bloody monkeys

i'd hate to say it bud, but for peace of mind, might be easiest to run your own new wiring harness for the stereo... then ya know its sound.. (pardon the pun..)

nah still havent got it working yet...

the 4x4 works, its just isnt working by button..

went bush last night and just swapped the vcv lines over to get 4x4...

im thinking that the black box may be toast,or a solenoid, its the only thing i have no idea how to test...and the fact it goes into 4x4 when the lines cross over eliminates the diff/transfer case areas....
