new Albany 4wd enthusiast

Post by dr4lex »

hola, people!
I caught 4wd bug overseas,in my magic late teens. my first rig was a 2l petrol! hilux1989.have some fantastic memories about that time.
now more then 10 years later -back to 4wding here in NZ with a 73 Landcruiser,1991,1hz manual, which i gifted myself for last Xmas.

have not been doing any serious offroading, coz truck isnt prepared for that yet.i m based in Auckland,Albany, thinkin to join some 4wd club, its gonna be north western one, i think, as my sorta local.

also keen to meet any 4wd nut especially with Landcruiser (but does not really matter) to get some decent advice on servicing and building up.

At the mo i m trying to fix oil leaks,so changing front and rear axle pinion seals (as well gearbox and transfer case seals)
I got stuck trying to get front axle pinion bearing out to get to crush sleeve .
rear axle bearing came out easily, and crush sleeve came out without having to pull the bearing cup out.

but front axle is a bastard.my book calls for bearing puller.i went to a supercrap store as well as repco to see whats available.
they have some pullers but i dont think its what i need, coz shape of their feet wont fit the bearing.mcentee hire have same shit for hire.

so if anyone could give some advice on that or might have the puller to borrow or some experience with the job i'd be real happy to have a chat, thanks a lot in advance

Best ya call me.
Can help with pullers. Have bin full of plates made for pullers and a shed load of threaded rods. If that fails, I can break out the 10 ton porta power  , and I'm President of Norwest OHV Club.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Can confirm that lot up there ^^^ be good sorts lol.

As for the Lada, I have wanted one forever, seeing it on the weekend gave me some very bad ideas considering my current lack of funds...

They aren't too expensive. In fact, there's a mod'd one on TM atm.

Sorry for fueling something that may end up in your bankruptcy

Seriously considering selling both the Nav and my 'lux and getting a d/cab 2wd for daily duties and something cheap and breakable for track work... that one on trademe actually looks not too bad... oh no... terrible ideas in my brain! lol
