trouble bleeding fuel lines
hey guys helping a mate with his surf its a 86 2lt. its got air in the lines and so far we have checked fuel coming out of the filter via primer pump with no air and have tried cracking off each injector while cranking it over. we have good pressurre with no air out of 3 injectors but am having probs getting the last one clear.

Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
with the one giving you issues, check that the other end of the pipe is tight on the back of the injector pump.
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
Once you have bleed the pump and it is full with no new air being introduced, you can bleed the injectors with the starter motor. Cracking off the injector pipes just speeds the process up but isn't totally necessary. When I'm being lazy, I will only bleed 2 lines and the engine will run on those 2 cylinders and the other 2 will catch up and bleed themselves.

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
yea the prob at the moment is i cant get it to start at all i thought it should start even if there was a little air still in it. i tried to cheat and spray some start ya bastard down the intake and it almost goes, its so close but just not there
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
Problem isn't air then. Hilux's rely heavily on glow plugs. Break out the magic piece of wire and power glows first. Doubt it is the run solenoid cause you get squirt at the lines.

Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
i tried that first and it diddnt work i even went to the extent of pulling each glow plug out and testing them individually. im stuck for ideas
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
also i do get fuel at the line but how much pressure should there be?
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
We may have to back up the bus a wee bit.
How did the problem occur?
Drive along and it stopped or changed fuel filter or went out one morning and it didn't start.
Just trying to get some background.
Sometime the clues are in the turn of events.

Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
Has it got fuel in the tank??
Re: trouble bleeding fuel lines
I'm starting to think the injection pump has shyt itself.
Volume, but no or little pressure.
If there is good fuel supply to injection pump, and you get some fuel out injector lines when cranking, and ether makes it run (enough compression), the only other thing is timing.
