Creaking steering

I have a slight problem every time i steer theres a annoying creaking sound ive got a 91 double cab hilux ute ive greased the whole steering sytem the little steering bump stops have rubber on them and it isnt on full lock either its happening during the steering process belt is new and tight and fluid is topped up and no leaks i can see am at wits end could this be normal ? Any help would be awesome

Have you tried new pwr steer fluid? Also what condition is the universal joints in? Im all out of ideas :oops: Good luck

Have a check where all the various steering and suspension arms connection brackets and drop boxes are welded to the chassis. My 93 prado was cracking where the panhard rod mounting bracket welds to the chassis, apparently quite common in KJZ's, dunno if affects hilux as well but you sure as hell wouldn't want it dropping off at road speed!!

look for cracks round the steering box on the chass

Thanks heaps for the ideas im gona check that out now might do a fluid flush it looks rather dark in colour do you rekon i could use atf fluid ive got a heap of that it says to use dextron on the cap was just wondering thats all?

atf is fine mate same thing as power sterring

Make sure you bleed it in after you have replaced it. Real simple, just jack both front wheels off the ground and with the engine running, see saw the steering from lock to lock a few times.

If its not sorted, are your u-bolts tight? Shackle bushes?
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??

Also check spring center bolts.

Yep got it sorted thanks for all the help from all the replies the fluid was a redish brown colour on the top of the reservoir but upon pulling the system apart it got darker cleaned it all up put new stuff in bleed it drove around doing heaps of turning emptied out and refilled it up again with new stuff bleed it and the noise has all gone very happy now lol.
