Well done!!!
Plenty of time to test it before Sheffield mate.
I'm thinking of taking my buggy up to Pucker Park the Saturday before Sheffield to help Rick test some of Hanmer's ,"Thermal Thunder" hazards before that's on. Which is the weekend after Sheffield. Keen to join us??

Now.
Vids nibs.
This thread is useless now, without vids.
That asian sticker would have to be a must on your truck?

prob not bud.. got my lad plus no way of gettin it up there, plus the risk of breakin it the day before the event with no time to fix anythin that may go wrong would suck more than the breakin it in the first place....

is rainin today, plus its hard to get vids in cab.. shes needin a good tune but goes ok.. heres a vid of goin down the street mildly...

You shoulda told me you were kicking in the guts for it's virgin run. i would of taken so vid for ya nibs.
The incab ones wouldn't be as good as a drive by one.
Cool to see it running though.

I understand not being interested in breaking it the day before Sheffield. But honestly. You'd only take it easy? You may spot potential problems before getting it out at Sheffield the next day yeah? And you'd have enough help to sort the issues man. I'd be the first to do an all nighter with ya making sure it's ready for the next day.
As far as getting it there. I can source a a trailer for you for the day mate. No worries there. And if you have nothing to tow it with? You're welcome to use the Holden.
Come on man. Give it some serious thought...
-Worse case, we do an all nighter sorting any issues out. Rather that than find shit out on the day?
-Best case. No issues. You're primed for the next day.

thanks heaps pete.. thats a very gracious offer, if it were another time, ie not the day before the comp, i'd be jumpin at the offer. an all nighter could be a go but the hard part would be sourcing the parts, and even then possibly at the right price..

seein as i'd be testing winch challenge tracks and 'taking it easy' at the same time, i dont see the two goin in the same basket.. red mist would descend..

again, thanks heaps pete. tops of you to offer. 8)

vomitron build..

Post by niblik »

decided that the b & m shifter for pedallin was an epic fail so decided to modify it a touch... want to be able to change gear and find reverse easier..

firstly started pulling out the shifter etc..
Image

"ta daaaa".. removed all the associated parts till only the shifter gate was left. as ya can see, on the very left is where park is then progressively goes through reverse, neutral, drive second then first.
i wanted to change this so i could slide through the driving gears easier and worst casde hit neutral and also occasionally be able to hit up to find reverse immediately like in a steep hill climb to hopefully prevent a roll over backwards.
Image

"oh my gosh"... i then modded the gate so when lockin tab down, i could slide up and down forward gears hassle free and if i wanted reverse, just lift lockin tab fully and move forward and it'd be straight there.
Image

"just there...." is where you'll see the bolt i put through to create a strong stopper so the shifter wouldnt move back to far accidentally when i get the old 'slap er in and go' happening..
Image

so as it sits now, the gate allows ya to lift the lockin pin and slide forward till it hits reverse, being a concious effort. then when the pins down ie standard, ya can slide the shifter back and forward as per a normal auto..

Image

have also bypassed the starter isolator proxy. where it used to start only when shifter in park, it can now start in any location. this is via a switch to turn on when seated and in vehicle and off when out of vehicle etc..

All I know is.
nibs was cursing at that shifter the last time I was pedaling with him. A bit like hosehusler (Tim) was with his.
So it's good to see him make some mods to it before his next event he's entered in, "Pucker park Mud plug" on the 31st of this month?
The muppets he's used to show off the mods shows how serious he is on the, "Vomitron". Looking forward to seeing you in action with it in the coming months nibs.
