FJ Cruiser - for sale

Post by MNC »

I tried to find that old thread "What was Mr Toyota thinking"....

This is the truck I have seen around town.

I agree that stock the FJ Cruisers look a bit so-so but if it wasn't for the crazy price i'd happily be seen driving this truck:

Looks good IMO

$95000   that's a lot of coin for something you can buy in the US for $50000NZ new
Reckon you could get one back to NZ for less than a $45000 shipping bill.
Toyota's gonna be selling them in OZ soon in right hand drive.

Maybe if you removed that god awefull plastic and tin bull bar setup it would look a little more rugged/usable.

It just looks like a designer with no offroad experience designed something he believed we wanted based on his/her assumptions of what an offroad hard core vehicle looks like. It has potential, but not in factory styling.

Same 4.0L V6 as the lastest hiluxes, 240hp and 377nm

Same suspension as 120 Series Landcruiser

Factory front centre and rear difflocks (I think?) probably performs very very well offroad

The aftermarket in usa for them is huge, I wouldn't mind one.

They are due for release in NZ early 2011 according to the latest Toyota NZ newsletter/magazine. No mention of pricing.

They are just a re-bodied Prado. Same platform and mechanicals, just revised body.
Of course importing from USA will mean you have to convert to RH drive as well unless you can sneak through the exceptions to the ruling.

From that image it looks like a beam axle front. Hard to say. Pity that are independent in reality. That actually looks ok with some real feet and ground clearance.

Gotta have tyre's sitting out that far so the bulgy lights don't get rubbed off on the first bank it leans on.

you only need to spend a few minutes on the US FJ forums to see the extent you can modify these with off the shelf components.... my Favorite FJ front bar is the road amour:
