Project Lemons Extreme Spring Setup

Post by De-Ranged »

Going with the theme of extreme, I've decided to do anything that will improve things heres the new spring mounts for the front

Carved the hing bits from solid 4130 and the pin was machined out of 4340... set with brass bushes and grease ports, They have a swing of 30deg

I'm going to weld the "bottom" up into the front X member
I'm still going to use the rear up front spring swop as well
The idea with the hing is at full drop the spring pack gets a mean twist in it as the axle angle get worse, this should allow more drop from the springs becouse there will be no bind
An added bonus with doing this on the front is my axle now "hinges" so it will hopefully swing instead of trying to drop straight down... this swing should move the axle similar to my steering drag link reducing bump steer
There is one issue I don't know about, is the swing going to give me a change in steering eg over steer to under steer on conpression
All I need to do is make some hinged shackles now

 8) you can see why I don't have problems getting things certed even if they are "different"

Oh I forgot to add I've almost finished making a set of these for the rear springs, that are 145mm long with 3 30mm greased brass bushes in there

Now that I've decided to go linkage they are up for grabs if anyone is keen PM me and we can talk price

Tack welded them in place.... with the amount of welding work I've got to do on the chassi I'm going to hang it on a jig later and do all the welds then
So here they are good to go

Now for some more axle work now that I've got the cutters  still waiting on the caps to do the "U" bolt eliminators aparently you can only get grade 12 caps in M14... theres no grade 8 or grade 10 and the amount I'm after they've had to clean out a few stores... not looking forward to the bill
