Hi,
Can anybody help me with a front nearside auto window not working on the above?
I have taken the power unit off and connected the pins to a battery and it spins around, so Iguess its not the power unit, what else, it will not work from the passenger switch or the drivers door switch, is there another control box or fuse I am missing here?
Thanks
Jethro

Normally they don't play up to much in Picton... weird
Either way for non vehicle specific electric window problems...
The switches can play up but not usually both. Pull one of the switches off and there should be a three pin plug behind it (more likely on the passengers side, the drivers one having multiple switches could have a more complicated switch).
One pin should have 12V on it when the key is on and other two will be for up and down. Join the 12V pin with the other two pins one at a time and the window should go up or down. If this works then see if you can get into the switch and clean the contacts.
Windows will be fused but normally all windows would not work if it was a fuse.
If this doesn't work and the motor does it will be a connection somewhere or perhaps a relay if they have one or a control unit that might need replacing if you can't get inside it.
Cheers,
Pete

Beaten to it!

I have found that the most common problem is dirty contacts in the switches which can be pried apart and cleaned.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

To all three, but mostly Coxsy and Pete!
Thank you for your time and effort for a newbie, I am really impressed. Weather permitting I will get on the job in the morning and let you all know the eventual result!!
I will be looking at the switch/pins/regulator first, plus I will look at the drivers side just to make sure nothing has come adrift at that end
Thanks again and really glad I joined

To all who posted on this 'help' request from a newbie.
Coxys your cut and paste got me to thinking about where the fuse box was in relation to the drivers door, the fact that neither door switch did work yet the passenger motoer did. I took the drivers door off and found that the door must have been apart before and the auto locking repaired, becasue the switch on thjat side was not seated correctly and when puished on, the system worked.
I feel that I would not have taken the drivers door panel off, if it had not been for the comments posted, which got me to thinking about the issue in another way.
Thanks guys
Jethro
