Right got this back in the shed. Built it a couple of years ago :mrgreen:

The old girl has been sitting for a couple of (read "few") months and it is time to drag it back onto the road kicking and screaming.

The handbrake needs to be relocated. Its is firewall mounted at the moment and gives clearance issues with cooling pipe bolted to the right head and has far too many moving parts!!

. We are going to recess it into the drive tunnel beside the drivers left thigh.

There is more to do, like a snorkel and new radiator but I'll get to that later.

Will get some current pix tomorrow.

This is what we have done to it so far........ It started as a 4wd 1988 with a z24 petrol :oops:

Cab and chassis rails from 88 4wd Navara Commodore V6 and auto Datsun 720 Transfere with custom disk brake handbrake
Custom drive shafts with 400mm 21spline slip joints.
Nissan Patrol diffs front and rear with a 32mm ID heavy wall tramp rod in rear.
Powersteer box from Patrol. X over steering.
Custom Steering arms.
45mm 4140 Tierod and draglink. Machined to suit Patrol ball joints.
Patrol leaves (2 removed front, 3 removed rear).
Custom spring hangers and shackles
Braided Brake hoses.
Rancho RS9000x 12" shocks all round.
37/12.5/15 Goodyear Wranglers on 8" steel rim.
Custom deck, Front bar, x members etc etc etc :mrgreen:

just another example of the testament to your ingenuity and handywork tom.. looks like a cool rig man.. bet the owner loves it...

i'd love to see some forward motion on your rig though.. any luck with 'spare time'? :wink:

But now that the hotrod chassis I've been building is gone and there is a 4wd back in the workshop im starting to feel rather motivated.

Got the hand brake lever mounted today, just need to get a cable made to go to the wilwood calipar and shes all sorted, well that job done :lol:

Next move is to hack a large hole in the right front guard to fit the snorkel. :mrgreen:

Got a little bit more done. Airbox from a 80 series is mounted. All the old mounts got removed (bloody spot welds :evil:

) and the holes filled. New mounts and removed the dust trap.
Job done

Now I have to give the lid a major rework to make it work and increase the outlet pipe to 3". Too easy :mrgreen:

All done. Just need to buy 2 more hose clamps then the snorkle and airbox is 100% finished.

Got the rear tramp rod sorted as well

very nice! I hope you have a good supplier for that silican hose joiner, that much would cost me a fortune! Worste thing I found was using it didn't allow enough flex between the engine and the airbox and everytime i gave the engine a boot full in reverse it popped the bloody hose off. Yours looks a MUCH better design.

Looking very sharp there indeed.

Any more hassles with the IFS on my Terrano and I might be knocking on your door for a solid axle conversion..................
