all i can say is what an awesome trip  huge thanks to vwilly and kbjj for putting up with us on thursday night. it was good to put faces to names.
it was carnage once we hit the snow    we were getting pulled out left right and center.... got to the hut and set up up tents etc then it was on to the blue ship (shit) must say there was a few bottles drunk that night    cant' really rememeber much of the night...... fantastic weekend all round.

i was impressed with my cruiser, we clocked up 1520k's and 680 in petrol but i do still have 1/4 of a tank left.

book me in for next year

Another awesome weekend away, our mini convoy got off the ferry just before midnight on friday morning and we headed down to chch and then we crashed at vvillys place (after managing to wake someone up), sadam wanted to take a new friend home  although I think she was slobbering all over Taz01 all night.

After breakfast we met up at BP Rolleston and then got lost getting to the supermarket round the corner. then the drive to Tekapo for fuel/pie/coffee. After that we headed into the hut, up the valley where the hut is the snow was deep which caused a few people to get stuck. we then settled in for the night. Sat Morning we headed off to the glacier. we stopped at red stag hut for lunch and then we really started having trouble getting thru the snow drifts. Mark (Froggie) managed to smash one of his trailing arms... we ended up with Graham & Taz already near the first glacier lake and three trucks heading up JR, KBJJ and Possum. we found by crawling over the snow was a lot better than trying to power thru it. we got to where the other 2 nissans got to and we carried on and parked up next to the lake. there we built a snowman. on the way back we took a slightly different route out and caught up with the others who were getting stuck in places (we just slowly cruised over these bits) when we got back to the farm some trucks needed fuel so a small concoy headed back to tekapo, we got some greasies for dinner there and then headed back to the mcauley hut arriving about 10pm. Sunday morning we cruised out and headed back to Chch to Hotel De Nibbz for a quick repair to Marks GQ. then some of us got sick of waiting for Hillfilly and Possum who were lost in chch and then headed up worsley spur. 3 trucks made it to the top Mark/JR/Graham. we then headed back to Nibz place. Monday morning we got up and cruised back to picton (didn't have time to stop sorry Shane).

Big thanks to Taz for organising again, Vvilly for the floor space, Nibz for the floor space.

Still sorting thru the rest of my pics, will put these up soon.

Great trip :D Wicked trip :D :D Nice to put names to faces, a great bunch of guys and gals. I'm glad I drove to the lake (with JR and Possum). It was one thing I wanted to do. Admittedly, it was unnerving driving across the deep snow drifts, up to 2m in depth in places. Taz, myself and my boy, drove up the Hopkins Valley and stayed at Red Hut on Sunday night. More epic veiws, and a great wee hut. Monday, we drove as far as fuel would allow, and ended up a few km's past Dodger Hut. A minor mod to taz's hubs (thanks Graeme for that tip) stopped his beast popping out of 4wd. We drove out, into Twizel around 6pm, and decided too late to set up camp so drove home.

Busted JR! haha Good work on the camera Jerry.

Great to meet a few more of the Welly crew, catch up with the familiar faces and the same for the new South Island peeps I met for the first time.
Another awesome trip up the valley's made so by the company.

Shame you couldn't make it Richard and I hope the pump isn't too brutal on your wallet.

Cheers to everyone for coming and thanks for the info on the hubs Graham.

Truck went well despite the glitches on the Friday (sorry about that) and I am glad to read everyone enjoyed themselves.
Gotta love New Zealand!

With our numbers increasing and with both parties at the hut it will be too crowded. We can go there anytime and its such a special place the North Island crew especially need to enjoy it.
Have an awesome trip. Might catch up some time to find out what that Blue Shit tastes like.
