2.7TD D21 Terrano Snorkel question

Hi, this is a question more of curiousity, I have had a snorkel kit fitted to my terrano by wgtn 4WD specialists which is great..

I notice you get more of a engine vibration\gurgle from the snorkel and you also get a more pronounced turbo noise, my question is..

I just replaced my air filter today as it was quite grubby & my fuel consumption was up a bit , and now the turbo noise seems to be even more louder\ prominent through the snorkel, not that it bothers me - I actually like it but I am just wondering if this is normal, with the new filter, is the cleaner/swifter airflow just being magnified through the snorkel, or do I need to change something, made sure it was the right filter etc,ie D21 turbo 2.7 version , thanks heaps for any comments!

You will probably find the old dirty filter was acting as a muffler and keeping the noise down a bit. Most snorkel kits unless custom built are detrimental to fuel consumption.

Thanks for that, you are probably right, the filter was pretty knaff, shame on me for not changing it earlier...It was a Generic terrano D21 chassis kit snorkel, was a bugger actually, had to reform the snorkle slightly to go around the factory aerial & also had to pull out & change the factory water reservoir for windshield for something slightly smaller as the factory one is quite large and was impossible to fit the kit to it without changing it lol...
