From what ive been told the hilux lsd are absolute rubbish, you get them shimmed up nice and tight and they go back to one wheeling after a few trips out.

I would go lockright or air locker front and rear

All the LSD's i`ve come across have been rubbish (that said i`ve never tried to shim or fix them) I know some people on here have had results though.

1
Your diff is diffinately an open diff 4 spider assuming its still got the original head in it.
2
Ive got an autolocka in mine..its great ...it does have some minor downsides tho.
You have to be very carefull when driving on shingle, snowy, icey road as the rear end can lock & you go a bit sideways.
Mine doesnt click much but i have adapted my driving style to suit it as per there recommnedations in the book they come with.

Ive never had an LSD so cant comment on them.
The lockrites for 2 & 4 spiders are different so make sure you get a 4 spider one.

You mean Surf LSD's are shit.. I know my terrano one is bloody awesome, would never think of spending 1k on a locker. But yeah, 90% of people I've heard talking about surf LSD's have said they are shit, My mates one rips 1 wheelers in the mud ahaa

I see you've decided on a locker....hope you get one from Tim (suzolla) a hassle free NZ'er and at a price you'd pay if you imported from the USA yourself :P
