Has anybody had any experiance with the chinese 200-250amp single phase mig welders?
Are they crap or not too bad

They can be very good if you get the right brands or shite if you get the knock offs, all you have to look at is the Green Mag Mate Pro welders that BOC sell and you have one of the better brands of Chinese invertor migs.
Look for Rilon, Riland, Jasic and Mitech they are the best brands with Rilon being the original brand that others copied.
Ive got a 200a Rilon Mig that is awesome and easily welds 10-12mm steel eh

Re: Chinese mig welders
Have you had anything to do with Blue weld or do you know of anyone who has?
Also with your one are you running argon or co2

Re: Chinese mig welders
Blue weld is a telwin rebrand and it used to be Italian (well mine was anyway). I replaced it with a Mitech unit, but I also went from 180amp to 240 amp, so can'tv really compare them.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
Re: Chinese mig welders
How do you find the mitech unit and roughly what did you pay for it?

I have my own 6.8kg C02 bottle, cant be stuffed paying to have argon so straight C02 does the job for me.
Mitech units are good, you usually cant go wrong with one of them.

Re: Chinese mig welders
Im shopping for a caddy arc welder at the moment. The amount of chinese welders blows my mind
Thinking of a chinese welder cos they are half the price of american stuff.
My only concern is whether I'll be able to buy parts if needed.
Be aware of the duty cycle. Some are as low 5%
What bloody goods that

Re: Chinese mig welders
I find that the Mitech unit is excellent when you consider what you pay for them.
Got mine almost 2 years ago and it was $1400 or so. The local agent here has heaps of spares etc as and if required.
I rate the Mitech gear as I also have a 60amp Plasma unit of theirs as well, and will more than likely get my mits on a dual arc/tig machine as well (one day

I have a Mitech tig, seems good so far and well built. The same machine I bought for 1200 you can buy in the states and china for 400 NZ (shipped) but they will not ship to NZ because PMT motorsport in chch is the nz dealer for them, which is a pain but does come in handy if you need parts or warranty claims. Wouldnt mind buying a big unit that does it all one of these days but a small mig and small tig does most of what i need. I can't weld for shite anyway

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

Re: Chinese mig welders
I used a 250amp chinese one for years. was a nice welder and would weld all day long (was way to powerful to even max out the duty cycle on the setting i had). weighed a ton, settings and dials didnt match what they actually do
oh and the reason i speak in past tenths is turoa is using it now.
I now have a chinese arc/plasma/tig combo and rate it, also a chinese lathe, a 15hp outboard and inflatable. dam I have to stop buying chinese stuff!!
