What size snatch strap

Post by mike77 »

Hi all.

Just organising my wagon to get going on the club runs, and have just brought a snatch strap.

There was a special on, and I got a 9m 10,000kg minimum breaking strenght strap.

Practically would this be too big for my vehicle, a Mitzi challenger, say just over 2000kg when lightly loaded.

Was thinking about taking it back and swaping it for a 6000kg model.

i have a escudo and use a 9000kg snatch
im sure 10'000 will be fine as long as you have rated recovery points

When using a snatch strap you apply a lot more force than the weight of the vehicle.
If you have a vehicle stuck, the load put on the strop when recovering can be many times the weight of the stuck vehicle.
You won't want anything less than 9 000-10 000.

I use a 9000kg 10m strap on a Vitara and it works well. Wouldn't use anything less.
