Re: my turbo fittment
what are you doing with the breather pipe from rocker cover?? catch tank??
Re: my turbo fittment
Hehe, I love your airbox creation

It looks very familiar

Having run it for a bit now, you NEEEEED the K&N for flow, and instead of that 90 degree silicone bend off the end of the filterbox, use a 45 degree, mine sat way to close to the radiator filler cap
Mine has a new home now though

well pete you have great ideas, do you want royalies for it
have the K&N filter orginised
beather pipe is a unknown at the mo

Re: my turbo fittment
I just piped mine down into a hole in the chassis rail and let it vent unrestricted inside the rail. Rust prevention in action
After having drama with Mudsluts L200 throwing out oil from seals and eventually blowing out the dip stick after fitting the Turbo, it is really IMPORTANT there is no restriction in the breather, and if you fit a catch tank make sure the inlet and out let are the same size, if not bigger than what comes out of the rocker cover.
The crankcase pressures will obviously be higher after fitting a Turbo, as there is a greater volume of air being compressed, leading to more blowby past the rings.

Re: my turbo fittment
I used a catch can with a hose plumbed in between the filter and the turbo to create a -ve pressure in the crank case to help seal etc..

Coxsy, how are you getting your exhaust past your PTO shaft? I assume you are running 3" pipe. Got any photos?
Cheers
Jase.
there is more room than you think down there. I made mine with a kink in it and had heaps of room for my 3in.

even managed to get the shaft to run straighter between the output and winch
Re: my turbo fittment
think there's diffent things in gq's as more room in one truck compared to another plus the twenty odd year in build times

Re: my turbo fittment
thats a 88 shorty and was done less than 6mths ago
. havn't got truck anymore but made a kink in pipe to push it across to give room .
Used a 180 mandrel bend and just cut and weld till it fitted.

Re: my turbo fittment
i dont have that much room in mine, i had to put cutouts for winch drive and manifold. i just want to be sure it clears, i hate exhaust rattle noises and knocks and laying underneath messing around with exhausts..

The problem is that defeats the purpose of the catch can as it means when you roll the engine oil can then get into the intake.

Re: my turbo fittment
may go with the breather into the snorkel piping, easier to do
oh pic underneath

adjusted the pipe to give a little more clearance

Re: my turbo fittment
You need to be post filter, not pre filter if you going to plumb it back into the intake.
Putting it into the snorkel would be before the air filter, and will quickly gunge it up with oily residue. The oil residue and dust makes a nice filter clogging mix quite rapidly!!!!

Pull the pump back out mark the back side of the engine gear on the same teeth as engine marks an try lining it up again

so today pump fully fitted pipes on, clamps on, glow plugs back in,timing cover bolt on a little at a time, comes apart quick assembly not so

radiator back in oil filters changed what a mission super gluded on, little things lost ie one rad hose clip, but looking like a truck again

Re: my turbo fittment
Hey, just in case you haven't factored it in, you probably have, but just in case, you need to prime the turbo with oil before you start the motor!!!
Leave the oil drain hose from the Turbo off, unplug the fuel cut off solenoid, take the intake plumbing off so you can see the compressor wheel. Turn the engine over on the starter motor untill you have oil coming out of the oil drain from the Turbo. Rotate the compressor wheel a couple of times by hand and repeat.
Connect it all back up and your ready to start her up

Re: my turbo fittment
ok thanks that confirms what i was thinking, my pump guys gave me another return banjo that will work better than stock one

just have water to add, refill the oil, bit of pipe for intake, lower bolt on pump, get better boost pressure hoses, exhaust gasket egt fitting to fit, may recharge batterys
this list is a reminder for me, as well as a post

battery on charge, oil in engine, water in rad, last bolt done , fuel return lines done, exhuast gasket done, checked all bolts,EGT fitting in, getting close,
still need two 3'' hose clamps

gave it a test switch on one battery clamp need a tweek up, and a test flick of the starter
we are in business, to fireup
