diff ratios

Post by jakwoo39 »

have got a set of 35s for my cruiser. and i dont want it to go any slower than it did on the old 31's so thought id get new ring and pinion gears too. so what ratio should i be going with in a bj74. currently has 4.11 ratio should i go with 4.88 or 5.29

Depends is it going to be used on the road, Ive got 4.88 and they seem to be a very good ratio for both.

my old BJ74 (13BT) ran 285/75 R16 tyres which are supposedly the equivalent of 33" and it was fine for power etc but the speedo was out so that if it read 84kph I was actually doing 100kph

:D I wouldnt put 5.29s in on a road going truck, Personally id stick with the 4.1s and squeeze some more power out of the 13bt if its really necessary. :D

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.
