You're both right.
Jeremy, it is damn close to being done, but I am playing with all the stupid little things that you normally don't bother doing until they cause a problem (stuff like a hot lead buzz bar for the positive terminals and wire hook ups, fabbing proper brackets for wires instead of just zip tying them to what ever you can find etc) I also had to redo a few things that I wasn't happy with, and designing a battery frame that was independent from the body (so the guards can still be taken off) was a bit of a head scratcher. Still plugging away when I get a chance though.
I am part of the inception crew who designed the chimney replacement programme (idea was others, I had to figure out how to make it workable for the trades), and the CRP is now almost in full swing and the phone just doesn't stop, (cell phone batt is only lasting 3/4 of day on some days, and it is only 8mths old).

I 'll try and get some pics up soon

Okay minor update:

Got most of the wiring sorted, this was a major as it all had to be able to sorted into the respective looms and then not be attached to the front clip or chassis. I am trying to make everything on or in the body tub as independent from the chassis as I can. This means if some major work needs to be done, it is a relatively simple job to lift the whole body off. In these pics the body has been lifted up to allow me to drill and tap the top of the chassis rails for clips etc.

Front battery box and shock hoops and bar. The battery box took some working out as well. At the moment the shock hoops are adjustable and may end up with hydraulic rams at a later date. But with the front clip needing to be able to be removed easily, the battery had to be supported another way. To support it off the shock hoop, it also needs to be able to move so the battery remains static.

Image

I have 2 1000 cca sealed battery's , one up front and one over the winch in the back. After reading on here what size cable people are running for power for hungry shit like winches, I got some 95m2 stuff to transfer the power from front to back. Thisn size doesn't just fit into a battery clamp, so I fabbed a household electric buzz bar to bolt everything too. Then I had a dig around in my sparky's van and found a plastic box that covered it all up :D

These are some shots of the clips etc for holding everything in place.

And the manifiold box for positive air to the transfer cases and auto.....

Image

And finally I got the coil overs finished. Big thanks to KBJJ and nibz for sorting out the lath work here. They are not quite done yet as I still have to fab the lock out plates to isolate the top spring. The shock beside it is a std lux rear unit.

Man this thing is a work of art! Can i suggest a different way of securing that cable though as those clips don't generally last that long especially the amount that they'll be moving around. You can get p clips that'll go around that cable like the clips you use for brake lines.

Wasn't sure how long they will last, but they were also stolen out of the sparky's van so the price was good  . At least it got the chassis mounting points sorted which is the important bit as it means the body can now be re-attached (after a clean up under there). The cable needs to have a small amount of stand-off as well to allow for both rubbing and the side step clamps to be fitted.

Rochound I have an odd question but...

You made the front clip removable so you had access to the engine, but it does not look like you have made the exo removable.

so here is the question, can you still remove the front clip with the exo or is it Sawzall time then remove the clip?

Or do you have a really cunning secret squirrel plan and I should just wait? Oh and when does the garage come down? glad it survived and didn't fall down!
Legal disclaimer: Any information I may have provided is worth exactly what you paid me for it.

Front clip on exo is fully removable as well, and yes it is a cunning plan the way it fits, back is also the same.
Basically the bits that are removable are notched as per normal over the mating tube, then I have welded a 10mm thick plug up the inside, then drill through all bits and tap the plug (10 x 1.5 met)
Then it all gets capscrewed together. As the notch should be the bit that takes most of the stress in compression, I figure it should hold together alright. It may not be as strong in tension as welding, but most impacts on an exo with put it in compression, not tension.

Got the rear snatch block and fairlead setup done today, pics later.

I'm going through doing some stuff that was bugging me. Re-doing all the front geometry as I didn't like having the bump stops so close to ride height (about 50mm) I am aiming to get another 100-150mm out of it yet, but it is a seriously tight squeeze to achieve it and get the TSL's on.
Also sorting a fuel surge tank to stop it running dry when pulling uglies. Most of the panel work is done now, and I might just get the ineterior up and running and pull it all apart for the major dash alterations later.
Got to be running for early Oct as some boys have laid down the glove, better make sure you are all go for then as well Tim  :P

Apparantly your superman impersonation was voted the best for that year though Matt.

The boys who saw you flying through the air when we came down said you had your arms out in front and everything    .

The truck will be a driver this weekend, just sorted out the surge tank and various other bits that I didn't like and have redone. Exo cage has just been painted, but as the truck is still in white undercoat, it looks a bit like a jungle gym until I get some colour laid down on the body work
