I have an '89 Isuzu Bighorn and LTSA have deregistered it (long story)
Any way ... what do I do ...
I fully rebuilt the moter about 10.000ks ago and have done other work on the truck.
Do I go through the process of getting it re-certed
The only isues with the truck that may prevent it passing is a ding in one lower sill and a dent across the top of the windcsreen that has been bogged up ( and needs doing again - it does not like big bumps)
Or would I be better off trying to pick up another one ??
Thoughts please
Vehicle Deregistered ... what to do ...

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

is that the famous barbecue truck
, can ya find a good registered doner body?

70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
Re: Vehicle Deregistered ... what to do ...
It all depends on why it was deregistered.
Some vehicles can never be re registered and are only for scrap parts.
I suggest you contact LTSA and ask them if you are able to and what is involved.
It may be cheaper to part it out and buy a registered truck and make one good one from the two.

Getting it back on the road depends on the reasons why it was de-registered in the first place.
If just due to lapsed rego then easy enough costing about $450 and they give it a very thorough check over. Things like rust, even surface rust in structural areas and brake disc thickness etc come into it.
But if due to accident, water damage or insurance claim then you will need to get repair cert before getting re-vinned. That can add another $300-$600 on top from memory.

That would be my choice, find one with a blown motor, then swap the motor over and sell off the leftovers.
You`ll prolly get a better truck outta it.
To Boon or not to Boon.

^^^^^
Buy far your best option, I'm in the middle of doing my swap over. labour intensive, but well worth it. All i have spent so far is 150 plus the donor and I got a nice road legal one
Cheers,

Yup it sure is ...

I put rego on hold ... they said I did not ... did it on-line ...
I was dumb and did not do a screen shot as proof

I wondered about the doner idea which is why I started this thread
