1995 Grandroad Nissan Safari Turbo SWB Diesel
Hi,
Can I get a steer from someone who knows about 1995 Nissan Grandroad Safari Turbo SWB Diesel. The steers are;
1. What oil filters should I use
2. What oil should I use
3. The vehicle engine wants to cut in at a higher rate when the AC is on, (just started doing this) not when it is requested for cold air, I understand when in hot weather and cold AC is on it may cut in at a higher rev rate...or not I may be wrong, but its just started doing it in very short spaces apart. It seems linked to the AC somehow as I heard a faint gurgle sometimes from behind the central AC control area, so I turned it off and the rev cut in stops, any ideas?
I am new and want to do my first oil and filter service, not sure I should admit that on this forum, but heck we all got to start somewhere

The air-con is working ok, the compressor goes even when hot air is requested, this gives you warm dry air for demisting
.
I'll let others give you the service info
Cheers,

Thanks for that, but it seems to be cutting too quickly, it cuts in about every 30 secs, should that be normal?
Thanks
Thanks

I have always found Repco filters fine. Oil wise, different people have different preferences, but at the moment I use Valvoline in my Safari. Also, when buying oil filters, check to see what it runs, some use 2 of the same, others 2 different (I'm not sure what the turbos run). I assume you know they run just over 10L oil too?
Weren't you from Picton? Where were you going to get filters? I could possibly get them at trade price for you, and you can just pay me cash if you wanted to save a few $$$? (will show receipt so you know what I am charged).

have found the td42 really go well on caltex delo 400. With filters takes about 11 litres to fill.Would pay to check the air filter as well. These trucks realy love fresh clean air

Re: 1995 Grandroad Nissan Safari Turbo SWB Diesel
Hi,
Thanks for all the advice everyone, for Coxsy, at the moment there are two ryco filters in there, one has Z9 on it and the other has Z416 on it. The 416 being on the right hand side of the engine block as you look at it. Inside the car stuck on the oil label are the words, Z9/Z115, which seems at odds with whats in the car, can you decipher this? Is Z9 another category filter the same as 115?
For Dave M, yes I will take you up on your offer. I have tried to PM both you and Coxsy but they are stuck in my outbox, not sure what thats about, any admins reading this can they tell me what's going on, don't want to break any forum rules by placing my telephone number in the main forum.
Plus any suggestions around the AC, should I place that in the Nissan forum or does it not really matter as most members read this anyhow?
Thanks
Jethro

you cant beat geniune filters. Cockram Nissan Parts division will tell you the difference between a Repco Oil Filter vs a Geinune Nissan Oil Filter.

Of course they will try to justify the price difference. Just like Repco are going to say their filters are just as good as Genuine
Re: 1995 Grandroad Nissan Safari Turbo SWB Diesel
I found the Ryco filters worked the best and didnt drain back as much as others.
Oil wise I used Castrol Tection HD worked really well and kept my oil pressure stable (no change from reving to idle)

Re: 1995 Grandroad Nissan Safari Turbo SWB Diesel
If you a/c is cutting on and off again every 30sec then it is short of gas! It will need to be topped up only takes 5mins to do it, if you follow the small a/c line back from where it goes into the firewall of you tuck you will find a little round sightglss when running you a/c look into it it should be clear not bubbling.
I run total oil very happy with it but will never use a repco filters again after cutting one open and seeing that there is not a lot! I use wick or fram filters. If you cut a good one open and a repco one you will see what I mean for your self!

Yeah from a selling perspective of course they will try justify, but in terms of quality there is no comparison. Repco is junk, you're getting worse than what you pay for.
