Removing Manifold

Post by nt_a_foz »

Think i may have missed a bracket somewhere but someone will know if i have.
Was removing exhaust mani on my surf and undid all the block studs/bolts etc and the bracket on the downpipe but when it came to remove didnt seem to have any movement to get it off.
Managed to get it off with a crowbar and some prying but i dont think refitting the new one will be very easy if at all possible.

Is there another bracket that i may have missed?

Is it still attached to the rest of the exhaust? That could make life more difficult than it needs to be.

nt_a_foz  , ok I will go easy on you :o , you want the answer------please ask the right question, what model Surf, and what motor, this will make it easier for members to give the right answer. Most Exhaust Manifolds do require a bit of gentle massage to remove, if you got it off without anything breaking you should be alright.

Yes exhaust still attached. Possibly my problem then??

Took a fair bit of prying to get out thats for sure.

So had undone the bracket to bellhousing and the downpipe join to mid section of exhaust and still not enough movement.

Ended up just winding out the studs from the block and putting it in place on the turbo then putting the studs back in easy as!!
