Rev Limiting

Post by mytronic »

Hi all

Have a question about the ability of a stock standard ECU to prevent a truck from over reving !! as apposed to a non-ecu unit . Have had conflicting theory's on this one.

Is it correct?

Also to all those who I have been asking oh so many questions about Mitsi's ..... YES I bought it :!: :D

Took it for it's first outing yesterday, could not wipe the grin off my face
Mounted the winch and we pulled logs and dams out of the creek so we could progress further , had fun fun fun

Yep, bought it, went down last weekend
Drove it back, must say that I perfered it over the 2005 Korando ... Bugger :!:

Gave it a thrashing, with 2 Zuks and 1 toymotor, and I went everyehwre. Must say it even went better than my old Cherokee
It was more a private get aquainted run without the club onlookers :!: :!: but I did get down and dirty, including using it as a front end loader.

So....

Do they actually have a rev limiter inbuilt from factory :?:

I hit 5500 rpm and then there was no more :!: while attempting to get unstuck in a river bed

Non ECU ... Very old Zuk with no computer

As far as Im aware all vehicles with ECUs have a built in rev limiter.... N/A engines use valve bounce

I know that my wee engine goes all the way to 8000 (or bloody close to it) 8)

My diesel vitara revs to 5000 according to the gauge.....had it up to 4000 where it was screaming its nuts off....

What about 'chipping" it? would this have the rev parameters?
