braided hose for high pressure steering line 1uz surf

hi all

i thought this would be most suited section for this question if not no flaming please

i need to sort out the high pressure line on my truck for the steering. 1uz pump to ln130 ifs box running coil sas looking at going braided hose. the catalogs do sell adapters from m16x1.5 to -6 an fittings that are made for steering line but unsure of items like 45 bends and what type of braided hose to use?
the bonuse with going braded is can make myself to get it to fit properly (already wasted $120 on getting a line made that didnt fit from enzed - dont want a repeat as truck not drivable at moment)

what is everyones thoughts? what have u done?

by braided hose, you just mean the hose with the fancey wire over the top? what sort of fittings? as they still need to be crimped on.

I took my truck to the hose shop and we had the hose in and out a handful of times to get it fitting just right. Not sure you will get anything "screw on" that will handle the pressure.

The an stuff you use for fuel injection is dealing with about 30-40psi not the few hundred of power steer.

yeah thats the hose i mean but there is different "models". fittings - the normal ones u can fit together yourself. there is a few guides out there (speedflow, aeroquip and xrp) but they dont clearly say wat hoses or bends that are recommended?

i here wat your saying but speedflow, aeroquip and xrp do fittings from steering box fitting to an fittings that they say are suited for h/p steering lines. at this stage towing the truck to a shop is not an option but i need to sort the line out asap

Ive never seen the screw togeather ones, that will handle the pressure, just used the crimp ones. Have you got a link to the fittings your talking about?

They are just SAE or JIC flare fittings. Get a tame hydualic man in a van to call around. Any good hose doctor should have a swaging machine in the back and do them on the spot. he can put the fancy braid over the top then too.

You need a little tool to assemble and dissemble again.
Ends are reusable if you don't stuff them.

not worried bout how hose looks just want a it reliable. not keen on mobile guy till ive checked all other options out first as of the callout cost.

Mobile guy would be your best bet, hydralink or similar.

From memory it was a straight fitting in the pump with an adapter and a 90* into the box. Sorry can't remember any sizes.
I made it up my self, no special tools were needed for the fittings i used.

That's the type of fitting. Refers to the thread and the angle of the flare or nipple. Common garden variety.

No leaks so far, It was a while ago that i set it up, all i remember was it's teflon braided hose (the most expensive stuff )

Just had a look on their website It was this stuff in -6 size

thanks for everyones thoughts on this. bit the bullet and got a price for a mobile guy to come out and do it and it was way cheaper than i thought so going with this option.

Sorry a bit late but I used reusable hydraulic fitting and -6 hose. This also mean can carry spare hose and fix anywhere. This hose can be cut to length with a cutoff wheel so is really easy to use. All we did was get the fitting either end modified so at the pump and box it is standard flare fittings. Worked really well and was cheap. Also I have changed tings around and it allowed for different routing when you change your mind. Got the hose and fitting from ENZED and were off the shelf items and they had all normal 90* 45* etc etc.

yeah i had the guy from hydralink make me up the hose and fittings. i to can also replace hose like your explaining when ever i feel the need too

Yeah it is good stuff and I'll be using it on a few other things as well. eg oil lines to cooler in about -14 as the fittings are very restrictive.
