Any synthetic rope is prone to that.
After talking to monstr, the idea is to wind on the drum under full load everytime from the 1st layer up
So I now do this after cleaning and so on, now it's not so bad to free-spool off.
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

We run the over braided stuff, and we always reset the rope between stages in W/C otherwise you get cutting down between layers.

That involves spooling it back onto the drum neatly, under tension.

A secret trick, is that if you are in a position where you can't spool the rope back on under tention before your next winch, spool the loose rope back on criss crossing the drum from side to side. That way the rope can't cut down. Takes up lots of drum space, but beats having to wrestle with cut down layers!!!!!

We are trying non over braided Dynex at the moment, and I'm sure UBZ reckoned it cut in worse??

the over briad does cut in but no where near as bad as non-overbriad.
the non over braid sorts of twists under tension and locks into itself when it cuts down.
Its also heaps harder to get a grip on the non-overbrad to pull out under free spool or when trying to pull it out from cutting in.
the Criss cross trick works wonders and you can hook the rope around a tow hook and reverse the winch to pull out a bad cut in.

2 mins spent re-seting the winch , having horns and thinking about when your going to need to winch and how much rope you roughly need is a huge time and hassel saver
Instead of just barreling in and then trying to sort it out when the winch is buried under a foot of mud and water.

we even hook up the winch and winch into some holes without even trying to drive them.

I guess this is when the Tigerz11 Large Drum would be handy to have, you would have that extra room for criss crossing the rope :) Kimbo said that with 40M on the drum there was still room for another layer if not 2.

I'll do some real time tests and see how much it will really hold?

I've had no problems with my synthetic rope, is the non overbraid stuff from cookes. It sits out in the elements all the time.

have finished mainland series , very impressed with winch, had a couple of set up issues, But with the assisstance of Brett have overcome these.
at Thermal thunder got a real work out and earned is money.
have 40m of 10mm on drum and could easy go to 50m, have large drum set up.
cables need to be upgraded for comp use to get the best from this unit.
thanks again Brett, first season in Clubman class and first place in series , but the results are well worth it. would recommend this product and back up service.
reliablity got us throught and a fast winch of course

cheers Bob

I've got the 9000 lb two-speed tigerz11 on my pajero. Looks like tigerz11 have really put some effort into sussing out all the problems - I've had mine upgraded several times by Brett whenever there was an issue. He really looked after me.

The 9000 lb 2 speed only just snugged into the ARB bar on my pajero, definitely couldn't have fitted anything bigger. Love the two-speed feature, awesome for respooling the drum.
