ok time to remove the 2lt and ive decided to build a 5lt as it will be better in the long run for me
ive seen alot of people saying use the 2l gear on these builds but there are a few things that i would like abit of clarity on any help would be greatly appreciated,i have looked on ore but failed to find any links on them
questions are
what injector pump to use 5l? 2lt?
what injectors? 5l 2lt?
fuel pump electric or manuel and why?
inlet manifold is it worth fab a new one to suit?
what turbo as ive read ct12's run out of puff on a 3l
exhaust manifold?and size
are the l series sleeved?
is there any extra work i could do to make it more reliable?
i have read using the 5l crank and pistons in the 2 l block can happen but how? surely there different bores and strokes or is there roomto machine the bore or space for the stroke?\
is there any extra wiring on a 5l? or extra to put on for the +t
i have rebuilt petrol engines before and a couple of n14s haha so im no stranger to that side of reconditioning
any help is appreciated

Re: 5l+t what does it entail
if you have 2lt and not 2lt-e then it should be straight forward. just make sure its the later 2lt as i think the early ones have different exhaust manifold.
provided the block is not rusted out you should be able to bore it out to 5l spec. not to sure how thick the walls are. then fit crank and pistons. rods are the same.
not to sure if you will need to mod the injection pump or not. depends on how much power you want to try and squeeze out of it.
stock turbo is ct20. the ct12 is off the 1kz 3 litre motor and probably more suited to the 5l than the ct20. but you would need to make an adapter to get the ct12 to fit. some people have used the ct20 ok.

Re: 5l+t what does it entail
Im doing the same ,
Brought a 2lt motor for dono, using the oil cooler plate for oil feed for turbo, the intake manifolds and the ct20 turbo (best turb for it)
The 89 newer efi exhaust manifolds are the only that fit.
Im going to tun 14psi with a front mount and have the 2lt manual pump which has a boost compinsator fitted.
Then get a fitting fited in sump for oil return from turbo

Re: 5l+t what does it entail
Ive done it, I used the stock 5L pump ( Most have a 10mm plunger) and i also used the stock 2LTE manifold and initially the CT20 @14 psi was pretty mean..
But now using a gt35/T04 and 20-22psi =

5L+GT35@21psi= 223RWHP
5L+GT35@30+psi= 287RWHP....

Re: 5l+t what does it entail
well that makes things real easy haha was there anymore electrical things it needed ?
Re: 5l+t what does it entail
Electrically you will need to find a wire from the original loom to power the injector pump when the ignition is on, and as for the tacho i cant help you as mine isn't going as I haven't got there yet.
Is yours a 2lte or 2lt? That makes the difference for the tacho.

Re: 5l+t what does it entail
if you have 2lt everything is there.
if 2lt-e you can use 5l-e or convert to non-efi.
to convert need change to manual glows, wire the pump solenoid (i don't think theres any true hot wire in the loom you can use, easy enough to wire from ignition switch) and tacho change to hilux tacho (tho i did manage to get a hiace one to fit).

the 130 is a 2lte
Re: 5l+t what does it entail
isn't the flywheel different with the 5l ?
Re: 5l+t what does it entail
I used a 2lte flywheel on my 5L
